We have been a complete shambles this half, really reminiscent of the Everton capitulation, its not been pretty.

I think we need this to knock some of them back down to earth after last Saturday.

Defenders are shitting bricks now every time they come forward. Looking as flaky as we've come to expect from a villa defence.

God, there's some bad vibes here: yes, they've conceded sloppy goals and I think that PLambert has perhaps over-subbed the team in the second half but FFS we're in the process of a complete re-build here. It isn't going to happen overnight and I think that we will get much better through the season.
Why not give the manager the benefit of the doubt rather than immediately get on the doom-loop.

Has Bent ever scored from a free kick?

Southampton are the worst team I've seen us play in this division for a very long time.

What does that say?

It says you probably did not watch their match against Man United or Man City?

They
Southampton are the worst team I've seen us play in this division for a very long time.

What does that say?

They led at home against Man U with a few minutes to go before conceding two late goals and led at Man City. They are not shit just because Arsenal took them apart. We've played badly today but let's not make out they are Watford or Derby. They've had a really hard schedule and were going to win at some point. It's shit it had to be against us.

Haven't been impressed with Benteke. His movement has been shit, and he's spent far too much time standing still. At least Heskey got back and defended.

Have to agree, I've seen absolutely nothing from Benteke today.

I'd also add that, for all the comparisons to James Milner last week, Holman might do the working hard, running around bit similarly, but he doesn't really seem to do a great deal more.

Really? A negative comparison with Heskey after one full game and a scoring substitute debut. Bloody Hell....

No, because they weren't shit last week, that's why.

I agree, there is an awful lot of over the top panicking going on, it's going to be an up and down season, we have to be used to that idea, but it's hardly out of order to criticise players.

Eh?

You missed the bit where I said I'd seen nothing of Benteke "today".

This thread is so fucking depressing. No wonder it's said that we don't give people a chance, I'm glad the media don't monitor forums - it's embarrassing.

Work in progress for god sake people - get a grip.

We're more than entitled as fans to say how shit we've been today.

Yes it's a work in progress but this performance is unacceptable on every level.

Do you think when Lambert points out how crap the defence was for all 3 goals he will accept his players saying "get a grip boss, we're a work in progress"?

Fucking dire today and EXACTLY like last season but with different players.
