The, cough, wise words of Lawrenson

Quote
Newcastle have been linked with Andy Carroll and you can never have enough strikers. They are being very cute because they know Carroll only really wants to go to Newcastle. Their idea of a deal for Carroll is not the same as Liverpool's idea of a deal.
If Villa are going to stay in this league they have to get the best out of Darren Bent. Paul Lambert has been trying to bring in striker Christian Benteke from Belgium. If they can bring someone in to help and take the pressure off Bent I think they'll be fine but if they don't they'll be in big trouble because defensively they're looking very fragile, including keeper Shay Given.
Villa are going to Newcastle, where they will get a thorough examination because United have good attacking players and have options in midfield and up front.
Prediction: 2-0

Where's good to drink around the ground before the game? First time going and it's definitely against my better judgements but hey ho!

Plenty of places in the city centre.  @WMPVillaFC on Twitter usually come up with away fan-friendly choices.

They played last night-they're going to be knackered come 70mins
Villa to sneak a late 1-0
Bent 88min

0-0. If  nothing else, hope my first use of 0 is correct.

The ground is one of the most easy to get to from a city centre in the Premier League, take your pick depending on what sort of pub you like!
The "Great pubs, full of Villa" always used to be the ones near the train station, don't know if that's still true, haven't been since about 2001.

About 3 of those players will start against us unfortunately.  You never know though.  1-1.

at least some of the players we get a kick up the arse. There are new hungry signings who want to play in the first team .

I've read that all players signed by 5pm yesterday can play so I take it all of our new signings bar Benteka are eligible. What time was the Westwood deal confirmed?

Ignore me... Westwood didn't sign till after 9 so he can't play.
