Fanny Magnet?  I'd say he's only average looking, so I'll give him 5/10.

The most important question - can he defend corners?

He's a big lad who's got a hell of a jump on him so I'd imagine he can.

If we can defend corners and maybe even score the odd goal from a corner we would probably be 15 points better off already next season.

He's 5'11 so he's not that big really. However if he's got a timing and spring in his step he can compensate for height. Look at Tim Cahill who you could make an argument is pound for pound the best at heading a football in the opposition box in PL history.

Should it not be inch for inch?

Welcome aboard Matt. I know the signings have been a bit low key,but i feel really positive about them, they all look good on the ball, have good movement, something which we've lacked for a while.

Lawton could be the kind of player weve missed out on from the lower leagues in the past(maybe another Delaney) and become a top player due to good coaching, something we haven't had for the past twelve months. UTV

I too don't know much about him, but the good news is we're making signings in the areas that we know need to improve.  We're not in a position to make marquee signings but I'm just happy that Lambert is overhauling the squad and bringing in his players.  Bodes well.

He's 5'11

Crap, sorry I read somewhere that he was upwards of 6' 3. Still, I have a friend who's got a season ticket at Bramall Lane, and he reckons he's good in the air.

The one thing the Sheff Utd fans seem to agree on is he is superb at crossing the ball. It will be interesting to see where Lambert plays him, reading his comments it seems he hasn't made his mind up yet but seems happy to bring some quality to the squad.

Welcome to the Villa, Matt.

I hope he turns out to be a cracking signing.  England's future right back.
