After the last 12 months yes, a worthwhile gamble, but please Randy not a 4 year contract, but one based on results or a rolling year.

Very excited by this appointment guys!!! Hopefully like many have said, Lerner now backs him and stops the rot at the club.

Btw has anyone real reason to believe his wife is a Villa fan or just some rumour started on twatter?

If it's in the Daily Mail it must be true.

Daily Mail, Matt Kendrick, Jon Fear via someone else....all the same shit, really.
People just chose to believe some sources more than others.

Its a gamble, its exciting and I've got a good feeling this will pay off. I really do believe this is a long-term plan and we need that, some stability and a young vibrant manager
Winning the title for Molde for the 1st time in 100 years couldn't have been easy no matter what league he was in

For all his faults when he was Chairman, Doug Ellis would have never allowed the chairman of a club like Wigan get one over on him.

Me arse. He even let Brighton make us look bad when they had to sue us for the Barry tribunal money.

I'm sure he's angling after the Manure job, but he'll have to prove himself first, and that means winning things, so I am more than happy for him to do that with us.

If his successful with us I think he will stay with us. Fergie has made it hard for any incoming manager at Manure. Hard  to follow a club legend.

If he ever got offered the united job of course he would take it!

This is the man Randy wants. The messages that we are getting saying that there are more on the shortlist is just simply the club attempting to manage (our) expectations should it all go tits up.

More like this is the man that Randy has been told that he needs.  There's no way Lerner and Faulkner have come up with this one on their own, so I wonder whose advice thay have taken this time?  You would hope they were not stupid enough to go back to Ferguson after his recommendation of McLeish and proclamations of what a good job he was doing.  Hopefully they worked out that Ferguson's main interest was getting his acolytes in employment rather than the welfare of Aston Villa and steered well clear.  They do seem to have an obsession with Manchester United though, so it wouldn't surprise me if they have sounded him out again.

If Solskjær gets the job, which sick note, ex-England, out of contract striker do you think he'll sign first?

I'd take Owen without question.  I also hope OGS would give Gabby a boot up the arse or move him out.

No thanks - has been ex-striker more interested in other things nowadays like Fashanu was

If we get him on the right terms I'd love to see Owen at the Villa.  Might teach Gabby a thing or two

Spot on mate, have been saying this since I heard Owen was released by Man u

If it was McLeish signing Owen would you think the same?  Owen is a crock, he'd be on high wages and he would not be the type of signing on which to rebuild Villa.  Have twelve months of some of the shittest football ever turned our fanbase into a bunch of quivering wrecks?  Before my eyes we're turning into a Middlesborough or Coventry City happy to accept literally anything as long as it's not a certain ginger Scottish manager.

Even when they're doing something right you're finding an excuse to moan. Well done.

Christ almighty.

I've criticised the board as much as the next man over the last few years, but can't you just give them a bit of credit for having learned something and chosen a manager who looks a very good fit for the club rather than picking one of the obvious pool of utterly underwhelming British managers?

I've had a spring in my step this morning with the prospect of Ole being appointed, but I've just realised it'll be the first time we'll have had a manager who's younger than me.
Bugger, now i just feel old. Do we get cheaper tickets and a bus pass once we become older than the manager?
