I haven't read the whole thread so I'm sure this had been said before, I am properly excited about this.  A young manager who's played for years under the best in the business.  This will be good, given time.

I'm sure he's angling after the Manure job, but he'll have to prove himself first, and that means winning things, so I am more than happy for him to do that with us.

Getting on the plane, presumably spending the aftenoon wandering around Bodymoor and letting Randy shmooz him for a couple of days is what a salesman might call a huge buying signal.

Time to close the deal.

They'll be in the Dog and Doublet for lunch then.

One thing is for sure, even if we don't land OGS our hatred of Wheelan has been upped a notch or two.

If he's not careful he could even surpass Gold.

Help me catch up.  What has he said now?

He's been like Tumnus for the past few weeks minus the helicopter.

Disrespecting our club on more than one occasion too.

the fella's just fighting his corner, playing the big clubs for twats, and in our case getting the better of us last term,
he's a wiley old git, but ultimatley harmless, dont understand the hatred towards him at all

I think it's his lack of respect for us, thinking we're too small time for his Manager. He was the same last summer over the N'Zogbia transfer - as I said earlier...he's a prick. Faulkner is useless with the media and these cheap shots should be countered - what use is the General these days? for a board member, his involvement appears to be zero. When was the last time he attended a match at Villa Park?

we dont like him because he got the better of us,
well i have respect if someone a lot smaller fights his own corner and comes out on top,
we need to man up and accept that some people wont cow tow to the bigger boy in the playground and scrap ike a wild dog.

he's on sky sports every 10 minuets, probably causing no end of problems to Liverpool and even Martinez, then he probably goes home puts his feet up and laughs at the lot of them, he's playing the game like a good un, and winning mostly

This is the man Randy wants. The messages that we are getting saying that there are more on the shortlist is just simply the club attempting to manage (our) expectations should it all go tits up.

I've said yes... purely because I've been saying for a while now I'd like us to go for someone fresh, young, a promising coach who can really bring something a bit different to the club, so I can't complain if we do exactly that. I can't say I'm 100% confident in him, because he'd be totally new to coaching at this level - that said, he does know the Premier League, obviously.

I know little about him as a coach in terms of his ethos, his methods, the style of play his teams have adopted. All I know is his CV, which was reserve team manager at Man United, and that he took Molde to their first league title in over 100 years; I believe, very early on in his coaching career, he was approached to become Norway national coach.

So, if it is OGS (and he could just be one of several we are interviewing), it's at least a vibrant, exciting appointment.

Whelan is a sickly old bell end and the only reason he isn't put in his place in the meda is because he's irrelevant.

Who gives a crap about Whelan. Wigan are odds on to get relegated next year and we won't see them/him for a long while.  The question then will be whether it was Martinez leaving or the 3 or 4 of their better players leaving this summer that got them relegated (more likely the latter).  If they do indeed stay up then Martinez cant have been that good after all.

gave us the runaround though, not bad for a 'sickly old bell end'

I think he could be a great appointment but it is a huge gamble.

Our last two appointments were huge gambles but not great appointments, so he has that advantage over them.

It would have to be a long term project, not an AVB immediate success requirement that ultimately backfires. He will still be learning within the job so fans will have to give him a chance.

I just hope RL & PF do a better job of selling the club to him than they did with Martinez last year.

It may also be a certain Manchester club will be keeping an eye on his appointment with us for a future job there.

They never even spoke to martinez as he turned down the opportunity to have talks .

Well I'd assume, as with any interview, there would of been prior contact and some form of portfolio sent on the club and it's requirements for the role etc. If this didn't happen then that confirms that the club didn't do it's job properly.

we know they didnt do there job properly, they were new to the whole proces, and Whelan played them like a fiddle,
its the way you learn, i dont think they will make the same mistake again

For all his faults when he was Chairman, Doug Ellis would have never allowed the chairman of a club like Wigan get one over on him.

If it is to be OGS, then fair enough but he needs a football man on the board to help him out...a DoF needs to come in - I'm sure this would be part of the plan (hope so anyway).  Frank Arnesen would be immense.

If Solskjaer gets the job, which sick note, ex-England, out of contract striker do you think he'll sign first?

He didn't give us the run around as much as just blab to the press that we had approached Martinez.

I'd take Owen without question.  I also hope OGS would give Gabby a boot up the arse or move him out.

@Villafirst The general is no longer at AVFC.  He has gone back to the US to the south Birmingham college of Alabama or something along those lines

Quote
Gen. Charles “Chuck” C. Krulak, retired commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps and former member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, was introduced March 21, 2011, as the 13th president of Birmingham-Southern College.

General Krulak officially began his duties full time on June 1. He replaced Dr. Mark Schantz who served as interim president of the college during the search process.
