'Hounding out the owner' when there's noone else to buy the club doesn't really make a lot of sense.

Yeah, your probably right, lets just say nothing eh ? Wouldnt want to upset anybody

Totally missing the point.

How are you going to "force" someone to buy the club from Randy? Think about it.

Glad someone else sees it.

I think you've missed the point.  The owner NEEDS hounding, because unless he sells, he can't just walk away.

Unfortunately there are very few individuals about in this world with the money to buy and  fund a premiership club. Of those few, some will have come about the money using rather questionable methods. Therefore trying to find someone with the right credentials is like looking for a needle in a haystack.Randy is stuck with us and we are stuck with him!

ok,lets have this right shall we ?

Randy Lerner bought Aston Villa for a knockdown price, threw a bit of his cash at it in the hope of blinding people into thinking that it was the start of something dramatic and when his "5 year plan" went tits up,started to asset strip like crazy and try to recoup his outlay by getting the playing squad down which meant less money being paid out in wages
Darren Bent was bought with the Milner money, the Young and Downing money has gone where ?
So what if we have a state of the art training facility ?,i'm sure the journey men and kids who will be the playing squad WHEN we get relegated will be really appreciative of the depth of the team bath and extra soft physio tables when were dragging our arses around the likes of Barnsley,Millwall, and Brighton next season
Randy Lerner,Faulkner,The General have pillaged ASTON VILLA on the back of a new Holte pub, some free scarves, and hoped nobody would noticed, well a few of the more switched on Villa supporters knew what your game was from the start and now the descenting voices are more than just a few your hiding away like scared little school girls, they are a disgrace and need hounding out the club

disagree with most of that

Well thanks for the input,no reasons why you disagree but you just do
I get the impression you'd start an arguement in an empty room ?
No problem with you disagreeing though, just buy your season ticket and replica shirt next season (with coca-cola championship) patches on the sleeve, applaud politely and go home after being turned over by Millwall,Barnsley or Crystal Palce without a murmour
Me,on the other hand will shout, scream, do anything possible to rid the club of Lerner,Mcleish and the rest of the fools

At the risk of upsetting site rules, the 3 of them are cretins of the highest order.

A conversation between them must be like a scene from the Teletubbies.

Fletch, with all due respect for your humour, please stop using 'cretin' as a form of abuse towards our undoubtedly shite leaders, I have a cousin with cretinism and I love the bloke.

Thanks in advance.

I'm not comfortable with this anti Lerner stuff.Admittedly his two managerial appointments have been well, cack, but he has done a helluva lot of good for the club.
Great new training ground and............................?

I have heard Ellis take credit for te training ground as he had put all of the pieces in place. Yes t was paid for when Lerner arrived, but I believe it was one of the reasons te club was sold so cheaply.

As for the investment from Lerner, how much exactly is it because our debts are astronomical since e arrived which suggests the investment came from other sources.

But is Lerner that good a businessman, or was he fed the golden spoon from his old man Al?

According to Wikipedia, Lerner's net worth in 2010 was $20m, down from $1.5bn in 2008. It can't all be down to the credit crunch??

If they sold tickets to that conversation, I would pay handsomely.

Don't give them ideas, they've got to scrape together Jean Makoun's wages somehow.

That can't be right, that's a huge amount to lose in two years even after a divorce! No way.

FWIW Here's my opinion on Randy. I think he did come in meaning well and he certainly did pump plenty of resources into the club. Had he been here a couple of years earlier or had MON had just a little bit more imagination with his signings, I think we could have made it to the top 4 and maybe all would have been well. Remember we were looking competitive for fourth. Then unfortunately for him and for us, the rule book changed again and the ante was upped significantly by City and Randy is not rich enough to compete on a level playing field.

I believe he still means well, but now needs the club to be run in a sustainable manner. The trouble is this is very difficult to do, especially when you have leeches like Ireland, Heskey etc. gobbling up resources and putting in journeyman performances. He's certainly made mistakes and McLeish is for me the worst of them. I thought it was a sick joke when I heard we'd approached him.

I think we need several things now. In the absence of selling to some Sheikh; he needs to source some external investment. He probably needs to part sell the club to some external investors, who in combination with him can give us the kind of financial muscle we need. Between them they need to bring in someone to sit on the board with real football experience, who can make sure the overall strategy is sound. Then they need to go out and find a real up and coming manager. I'm all for supporting the manager and giving them time, but McLeish has never been in this bracket. FWIW. I don't think they've much choice but to support him now - to sack him would be a huge risk (KMac looked a out of his depth before Houllier came in so I'm not convinced this is a starter). Hopefully we stay up and get a chance to replace him over the summer.

I don't want Randy out yet, but I do believe the time has come to dilute his influence a bit at the club. Finding an investor to co-own with him, basically a billionaire of similar stature to himself could work. The DOF is vital for us now, as the ownership don't have the necessary knowledge (we cannot be relying on the owner approaching Ferguson for advice, as he quite clearly will not be inclined to take our best interests to heart). I'm sure GT or Houllier would be ideal for the job, as they're both beyond the stage where they could be seen as a threat to the manager. This change needs to happen this summer, as I fear we'll be left so far behind we'll never be able to get back to the top without it...

Apologies if this has been discussed before, but I've just been out with a few fellow Villa fans and one of them said that he heard an interview on the radio earlier today with John Deehan.  Obviously the subject of McLeish and his appointment came up.  Deehan apparently said that a few managers had turned the job down before it was offered to McLeish because it was stipulated that the new manager could only employ one new member on the coaching staff.  Deehan went on to say that he felt that was the main reason a number of managers turned it down and that he didn't think it was very healthy for the heirarchy to be interfering in such matters.  Did anyone else hear the interview?  I guess that would explain why Andy Watson did not come with him.
