I really think we'll lose on Tuesday and end up going down.

You really are excessively negative.

Hardly excessive. In terms of probability it's a definite possibility.

It is possible but still at this point unlikely and yet you believe this will happen.

Feel free to gloat should we stay up.

No you're alright. The day I am smug about simply staying up is the day I jack it all in.
I'm not all happy with the state of things but I'm not running to the worst case scenariometer every time another team gets a point or two either.

Blackburn had a good result today but are essentially 6 points adrift of us with 3 games to play against Spurs (a), Wigan and Chelsea (a).
They may stay up, although I doubt it, but they won't catch us I think.

Bolton have 5 games left but are shite away from home , have two home games and have essentially 7 points to catch us.
Plus we play them ourselves. I'm fairly sure they wont catch us either. Or QPR.
I doubt that any of the bottom 5 wouldn't swap places with us in a heartbeat.

We're impotent, tentative and boring but we're still picking up points.
Relegation is a distant fear at the moment. Keeping the current management team next season scares me more.

I thought we would win today and then plunge ourselves back into it with a defeat on Tuesday.

I would be tempted to play on the counter with NZogbia and Gabby wide left and right and Weeman through the middle, and then have a 3 man midfield of Ireland, Herd and Gardner to give some legs.

well, after all the results how have the odds changed on us going down. Do the bookies think it has become more likely or less likely?

Our team from the League Cup game earlier this season -

01 Given
02 Hutton
03 Warnock
05 Dunne
06 Collins
07 Ireland
12 Albrighton (N'Zogbia - 73' )
19 Petrov
25 Bannan
11 Agbonlahor
14 Delfouneso

It was a weakened Bolton side that beat us that night.

Let's face it... even our strongest team is crap.

'Strongest'?

Actually, it might have been at the time but injuries mean that it's a non-starter anyway, as we know.

The Heskey/Weimann partnership looked good today.
Lichaj, Baker, Collins and Cuellar are great at the back.
Herd, Ireland and NZog all stepped up, as well, as did Hutton when he came on.
And the really good news is Gardner, Carruthers, Bannan and when fit, Clark and Gabby are all well worth their places - as are Warnock and Guzan, of course.

Even Marc could be better used as a sub on the wing he's more comfortable playing on, according to several posters on here.

If a combination of the above can't beat Bolton (and look at where they are, compared to our last two opponents MU and Sunderland) on tuesday, then they should be playing rounders.

We will go down this season i have no doubts about it. Everything suggests it will be us taking one of the two places still on offer. Just look at the form table, the stats, plus the never ending injury list. Tbf we deserve it playing absolute dross week in week out. I gave the post match thread a wide birth after i read ''We played decent'' a few too many times. We were shit, we made bad decisions time after time and look completely lost when in possession.

Bet365 and BetFair are offering 14/1 against our being relegated, and the shortest price being quoted is 9/1 against. So if you are sure we are going down, fill your boots.

What a dismally abject season.

Funnily, I feel it's now less likely that we'll go down after today's results. I didn't expect us to win today and I expected QPR would. Blackburn would have to go  on a brilliant run to catch us, so I think it's really Wigan, QPR and Bolton who are the main concerns. Wigan and Bolton got one point between them.

Avoid defeat against Bolton and I reckon we'll be ok. That will be a nervy game, but on form we should do it.

I;m still completely depressed as a villa fan mind!

Even if we do survive this season (and on that it's 50/50 ) we are in for even more excrutiatingly painful times until we are rid of McLeish.
I really wish there was some way we as fans could force Lerner to get rid, that in itself would be a massive boost for all of us ,personally as a season ticket holder there is no way I will renew our tickets till he's gone.

Im really worried, I think the crowd will be very nervous, can the kids handle the pressure?

If we lose to Bolton, I think we will go down.

For the umpteenth time, no it's not.

It's more like 90/10.

You want stats? Form table -last six games:

Wigan 3rd in table with 12 points
QPR    10th    9 points
Bolton 8th     10 pts
Blackburn 18th  3 points

VILLA 19th   3 points.  That's second from bottom with only Blackburn having a bad run of form.

For the umpteenth time we are terrible and getting worse FGS.
