Well if he comes to Villa that's a cracking appointment. I must admit I wanted him before the OGS scenario but something about that kind of captured my imagination and I like many got wrapped up in this exciting vision with him

Lambert is a very sound choice, maybe not as exciting as OGS. That was like dipping into the unknown wonders of the ocean. Lambert is a good manager, he seems to want to be a winner and has shown versatility with his teams. Why some people suddenly think he plays the long ball game I don't know. Maybe sometimes they are very competitive and direct, but so what? He is not a one trick pony like MON so it could be a exciting era for us.

Agree with this

I couldn't care less about long balls, short balls or square balls as long as they end up in the opposition net more often than ours.

Damn right, you know anything Dave?

Only what I've said. Given that they've played this one very close to their chests, the story getting out now would seem to indicate an announcment is imminent.

So if lambert is to be our new manager people are having concerns with the style of  football he plays, to be honest i couldnt care how we played football as long as it got results. At the end of the day football is a results game. You can play all the nice football you like if you dont win games it doesnt matter. I want 3 points every weekend and if the team is going for it and trying regardless of the style they play thats all that matters. Winning or trying to win. Not giving up before a ball is kick like the previous buffon in charge.

And managed a team who finished top of the long ball league last season

I know that you keep repeating this, but could you back this up with a source of some sort?

Not saying that it's wrong, but it would be interesting to see the data that you are using.

It's there Dave keep looking just as RL and PF are!
It's where? I've had a quick search and I can only find the table from 2010/11. If you could point me in the right direction that would be smashing.

I'd give OPTA a call Dave they should be able to confirm it for you.

Douglas Adams thinks Lambert is the perfect age.

Douglas Adams can't think he's dead!

I know what you mean but a bit of actual football would be nice.

Second Table, Pass Type.

Of course not pointing out that second was everyones favourite footballing manager in 'Arry.

The thing that's stood out for me watching Norwich this season is that their players never stand still. As soon as they have the ball there is movement and options everywhere.

You can say what you want about their tactics, but they've been enjoyable to watch, and they've done this with players in their side who are clearly deficient technically in certain areas, but have a manager who can work tactically to overcome them.

Fuck me do we need some of that.

Fucking hell mate!  Bore off will you? Football is horses for courses.  They have taken over two weeks to get to the right decision, so they have done their homework and think they have the right man.  Norwich played to their strengths last season and stayed up. If they went long ball all well and good, but there is absolutely nothing to suggest that Lambert will play that way with Villa.

And midtable for short passes... They are hardly Stoke are they.

All I want is a manager who plays to win, gets us winning more than we lose, gets us scoring a few and if he could introduce the concept of movement off the ball then that would be splendid.
