We have a nose people. Isn't he cute? Look at his cute little hunchback.

Show some respect. That's his conjoined sister.

Well Lambert coming is not going to get me excited, just MON mark 2 for me.  Another example of RL and PF not getting their man i'm afraid.  Nothing vibrant there and not that young either.  Lambert plays a fair bit of direct football too.  As for Grant Holt, if that is the best Lambert can come up with then he needn't bother coming.  We have just got rid of one 30+ striker we dont want or need another thanks.  Don't forget his team were one of the few we managed to beat last season, the late goal from Holt flattered them that day at VP.

Oh dear another opportunity missed can't see his appointment making any difference to crowds next season either.  I hope he comes for talks and decides its not for him I really do.

Given that he's the favourite in every poll I'd say he's exactly the man they want and will do a lot to increase crowds.

Given that PF said they were looking for "young and vibrant" in what way does Lambert fulfill either of these criteria?

He's 42 and got two successive promotions.

And managed a team who finished top of the long ball league last season
And managed a team that who finished a helluva lot higher than us last season, with - some say -  a vastly inferior squad of players. Get off his case and get behind him!

You have the last word sir!
Okay: the last words are normally "good night and goodbye".

I may be on my own here but I like Holt, I think he caused us massive problems at their place, he's handy in the box, let's face it Agbonlahor has hardly pulled up any trees and he'd be a good option on the bench

Scored his goal with MASSIVE HANDS actually

Hence why I said handy, I still think he'd do a job

Can you imagine the monthly bill for cream buns if we had Dunne and Holt at the club. We'd be bankrupt before the end of the season.

I know that you keep repeating this, but could you back this up with a source of some sort?

Not saying that it's wrong, but it would be interesting to see the data that you are using.

It's there Dave keep looking just as RL and PF are!

Well if he comes to Villa that's a cracking appointment. I must admit I wanted him before the OGS scenario but something about that kind of captured my imagination and I like many got wrapped up in this exciting vision with him

Lambert is a very sound choice, maybe not as exciting as OGS. That was like dipping into the unknown wonders of the ocean. Lambert is a good manager, he seems to want to be a winner and has shown versatility with his teams. Why some people suddenly think he plays the long ball game I don't know. Maybe sometimes they are very competitive and direct, but so what? He is not a one trick pony like MON so it could be a exciting era for us.

It's where? I've had a quick search and I can only find the table from 2010/11. If you could point me in the right direction that would be smashing.

I think OGS would have been truly the people's choice to be fair, the poll above is pretty split isn't it?

Sometimes it's better that people don't get what they want. The euphoria that many people displayed on the possibility of OGS being our next manager was, to say the least, misguided. He offered nothing that warranted being considered for the job, in my opinion.

Lambert has been my choice since day one.

Martinez & Whelan can do one.

Bang on John.

None of us really know what's gone on behind the scenes, but obviously its vital they get this appointment right and we have some longevity with the next man.

However, I do think credit is due with regard to the prompt sacking of McLeish and subsequent statements issued regarding and I for one would be delighted if indeed Lambert gets the job.

After the abysmal last two seasons, it feels like an opportunity to press the reset button and start again.  I just hope whoever is appointed is given time to rebuild, not just from the board, but from our own supporters.

Take no notice Dave, he's obviously just copied Monty's homework.

I couldn't care less about long balls, short balls or square balls as long as they end up in the opposition net more often than ours.
