Well Lambert coming is not going to get me excited, just MON mark 2 for me.  Another example of RL and PF not getting their man i'm afraid.  Nothing vibrant there and not that young either.  Lambert plays a fair bit of direct football too.  As for Grant Holt, if that is the best Lambert can come up with then he needn't bother coming.  We have just got rid of one 30+ striker we dont want or need another thanks.  Don't forget his team were one of the few we managed to beat last season, the late goal from Holt flattered them that day at VP.

Oh dear another opportunity missed can't see his appointment making any difference to crowds next season either.  I hope he comes for talks and decides its not for him I really do.

Given that he's the favourite in every poll I'd say he's exactly the man they want and will do a lot to increase crowds.

Given that PF said they were looking for "young and vibrant" in what way does Lambert fulfill either of these criteria?

He's 42 and got two successive promotions.

We will agree to disagree on both of those dfinitions of young and vibrant then Dave

How young do you want then? Lambert the Toddler? Lambert the Embryo? Lambert the gleam in the milkman's eye?

And managed a team who finished top of the long ball league last season
And managed a team that who finished a helluva lot higher than us last season, with - some say -  a vastly inferior squad of players. Get off his case and get behind him!

Exactly, everywhere you look he had nothing but positive comments. I'm not sure who some people on here think we can get, but I for one will be over the moon if he joins.

Oh, hang-on, with him playing under MON then he must be MON Mk 2, I forgot....

Will Lambert be happy that he is only first choice target after we have been rejected by OGS, Martinez and waited til Rodgers has made his choice.
If I was him I wouldn't be convinced.

I wasn't aware we had already offered 3 people the job.

You aren't aware that we haven't either are you?

Yes I am.

So it is alright to say something as fact and when someone points out there is no proof, point to the lack of proof as being fact. Are you a priest?

Re the last few posts:

They didn't say young, just vibrant.

Norwich won something the last TWO seasons - promotion.

I think there's no shame in a third division side comfortably staying up playing a few long balls.

Fred West was a Villa fan.

And would have been a better Manager than TSM!!  8)

Paul Lambert? Yes please. Long ball to Grant Holt?  It worked for Norwich didn't it?  He scored what? 17 goals or so, therefore I'd say Lambert played tho their strengths but this doesn't make him Mr Long Ball. Sign him up please Randy.

Martinez, a choker?

Either that or Dave Whelan has some pictures of him in a compromising situation!!

Both. I heard he was a big Linekar fan...

I know that you keep repeating this, but could you back this up with a source of some sort?

Not saying that it's wrong, but it would be interesting to see the data that you are using.

Last time I checked we were about to make an official enquiry regarding Lambert becoming our new manager...so why all the talk of Holt all of a sudden? We have Bent, Gabby and a few attacking midfielders capable of scoring goals so why would he consider bringing Holt with him?

Lambert hasnt been blessed with the most talented footballers whilst at Norwich so even though the statistics over his long ball game may be true, there is good reason why he played that way and the most important thing is that it got him results. Should Lambert become the next Villa manager and should he sign Holt, then it wont harm our chances of doing what we struggled to do so much last season...putting the ball in the back of the net, whether that may be via long balls, crosses or playing the passing game.

If hes the man for the job and can secure our place back in the top 10 fighting for European places then he'll be a welcome appointment at Villa Park.

FFS We have NOT been rejected by OGS and Martinez. We have been sounding out Lambert since about 10 days ago.
