Could we be lining up Chris Hughton? West Brom seem to be interested in other candidates when it seemed like he was destined for them a few weeks ago.

I've decided I want Tim Lovejoy as our new manager. He's great.

Supported by Dennis Wise?

Yeh, why not?

Don't forget TSM was on 2million quid a year - that's 2.5 mill euros. I'd say there was scope for negotiation if AVB wanted to sit down and have a chat about it.

Looking over that top 30 table again, it's worth reminding ourselves we pay our managers more than Milan, Inter, Dortmund and Juve. And also more than/same as the national coaches of Spain, Germany and Brazil.

Which draws the question... Why the hell should we be looking at the likes of Grayson, Poyet, McCarthy, Curbishley or dare I say OGS?

Quite.

I guess because managers who can command those fees have the good sense to know when they're being asked to deliver the impossible.

Had a guy in the pub I drink in boring me about Some inside info he's got about Glen Hoddle becoming our new manger.

It was something along the lines of he's mates wife's sister works at Villa park and has been told this in happening.

The guy I was talking to reckons he had £10 on it at 50/1 in the week and today the had £25 quid on it because the odds have dropped to 12/1.

I personally think the sun has got to him had he is talking bollocks but the only thing that worries me is that he said McLeish was going to be our manager about 2 days before he resigned from the filth and turned up at our place.

I don't have a problem with Hoddle but I do think he's time as a prem manager has gone. Could see him as some kind of DoF or technical adviser type role though if we got a young manager .

They could well be talking to Hoddle -and maybe even about the Villa job.

But not necessarily with a view to offering it to him.

It's often mentioned on this site and elsewhere that the board lack football knowledge, hence why they approached GT to get his opinion on who would be the best replacement post MON.   McLeish got a glowing reference from Fergiescum.

Hoddle has a reputation in the game for playing football the right way, so they might believe he's as good a guy as any to canvass about up and coming young managers with a similar philosophy. They might even have someone in mind who he specifically knows.

I think that is far more likely than the oddball actually getting the gig.

I want to be the next Villa Manager  :D I'm sick of managing the Rebuild of Christchurch on behalf of the Insurance Company I work for.

Seriously, there are some pretty good candidates out there, so let's just hope Randy takes his time and gets the right man.

People love to say "Who'd heard of Arsene Wenger before he took over Arsenal" when trying to plug some who-he for our job. Well Glenn Hoddle had and after he'd played for him at Monaco I read an interview with Hoddle in the mid 90s where he raved about him and said that Wenger should be the next England Manager, but instead had moved to Grampus 8.

So using Hoddle as an advisor could be a very good idea.
