Don't forget TSM was on 2million quid a year - that's 2.5 mill euros. I'd say there was scope for negotiation if AVB wanted to sit down and have a chat about it.

Looking over that top 30 table again, it's worth reminding ourselves we pay our managers more than Milan, Inter, Dortmund and Juve. And also more than/same as the national coaches of Spain, Germany and Brazil.

Which draws the question... Why the hell should we be looking at the likes of Grayson, Poyet, McCarthy, Curbishley or dare I say OGS?

Quite.

AVB fits the young & vibrant bill perfectly, you never know he may well bring RDM as his No2 if he walks from Chelski too. For me Wilkins would be a great appointment as anyone's assistant.
IMO Randy could convince him Villa Park is the place for him!

I really think we should be doing our best to get AVB.

Agreed.

Avb would be better than solksjaer in my view, but i think its unlikely to happen, would be a real masterstroke if randy pulled him off as the new manager!

I stuck a tenner on AVB at odds of 75-1 this morning. Most likely a tenner I won't see again but if he gets the job it will certainly make me vibrant.

A masterstroke indeed Eastie, would definitely make up for the last 2 shocking appointments thats' for sure. I hope we are at least exploring the idea, maybe we have and he's not interested, who knows!!
Would be the best appointment Randy could make IMO, give him a 5 year plan, proud history, bright future and all that.

I'm finding it hard to keep up with this thread and the Oddschecker website. Talk of AVB now. Has something happened? A couple of hours ago I was trying to turn "Your portly and Spanish with a kind of waiter type look but at least you won the Champions League" into a workable chant.

Nothings happened we're all guessing like everyone, but AVB fits the profile and it looks like he has limited options. He could have a 'project' with us.

I think if it was going to be AVB he'd be here already. I think Randy's waiting for the outcome of the Martinez/'The Mighty Reds YNWA' talks before doing anything else. If Martinez doesn't take the 'The Mighty Reds YNWA' job I think we'll be in for him. If he does take the job, I have a horrible feeling it may be Grayson for us

I wouldn't mind AVB not least I have big rewards for little outlay riding on him,

but I still wouldn't want him to take the job just because we end up being his only option, like going home with the fat bird because he couldn't pull anything better

Wouldnt surprise me but would hugely disappoint me if true, i know gardner tweeted hed seen grayson at bodymoor and coupled with mysterymans have to wait for our man it would come as no shock .

I wish people would stop using the word 'project'. Reminds me of schooldays and ultimately a lack of success.

How underwhelming that would be.

I don't think at the time they were related. Grayson has not been at Huddersfield long, and I can't see us going for him. He would be a huge let down to the fans, which the board can't afford.

MM was referring to OGS I am sure, who would have been end of next week if he had come.
