Wilkins confirms West Brom talks
Ian CruiseTODAY AT 09:35
Ray Wilkins has held talks with West Brom about their vacant managerial position.

The Baggies are searching for a new boss after Roy Hodgson quit the Hawthorns to take charge of England and have been linked with the likes of Birmingham boss Chris Hughton and former Chelsea chief Claudio Ranieri.

But former QPR and Fulham manager Wilkins is also in the frame and he confirmed to talkSPORT he has held initial discussions with the Midlands club and is interested in the job.

Wilkins has been working in the media since his controversial sacking as Carlo Ancelotti’s number two at Chelsea in December 2010, but he is keen to get back into the game.

Albion, however, could face competition for his services, with Aston Villa also reportedly keen to speak to him about succeeding Alex McLeish.

if e get Wilkins i will definitely throw myself in the river

does Benitez really fit the 'young and vibrant' bill ?

he doesnt seem vibrant to me, or young for that matter, he might be in his early 50's but he looks 10 years older,

he adds fat spanish and waiter to his bill

Nobody knows what's going on. Personally I'd rather just know for sure one way or another. All this speculation raises hopes unrealisticaly.

I'm not convinced a lot of this speculation is raising hopes.

The more I think about this, the more I'm convinced that this next appointment is going to be a bit of a departure to what we're expecting.

Well, it's not like Houliier and Mcleish weren't.

It's pre-empting the raising hopes by dashing them.
I like being in a state of perpetual disappointment.

Wilkins is fine as number 2 not as manager outright.

Right Randy one of these will do - AVB, Schuster, Ragnick, Martinez, Lambert, Benitez or a successful young European manager. There you go nice and easy, now just go and hire one.

I also agree with Wilkins as a number 2 or a coach, Chelsea went downhill when he left imo

Yep - Wilkins as coach/assistant to a foreign manager would work for me.
