Moyes never got Preston promoted.

I remember many a time Everton being in a relegation scrap...I don't want Poyet at Villa doing the same, don't think he will have the bottle to get us out of it like Moyes.

who do you want Tuscans ?

Di Canio...yea I know ill get slated and you'll all start to give it whats Di Canio done blah blah blah....but I like his balls, not in a gay way....I like a manger with big balls.

i actually quite like big characters, ( thats why i always stick up for Holloway) and Di Canio is certainly one of those,

i think his ultra right wing tendencies could be a problem, i dont know if he is openly preaching them, but that would put a lot of people of,

the way his teams play by all accounts is on the floor and attacking so thats what we want also

he is a bit of a time bomb though, just waiting to go off, its not a matter of if but when with him, it wouldnt normally put me of because i would take a risk, but when you  link it in with the other stuff i think it does become high risk

I don't know what Brighton's transfer record record was or is, but it does show that he was backed by his club.  That's not a minus against him as a candidate for our job - just an observation.

I am in the "yes to Martinez" camp...

To those in the "no to Martinez" camp I want to clear something up... you state you cannot understand how "we" can like Martinez as he only won had a good run his last few games....

His last few games are not why we like him - actually they are a bonus...

Last year when we where linked I actually wanted Martinez then, I went away to wigan the houiller season and even though the wigan team was rubbish they had an air of creativity around them that felt like they could score at any moment.  Nzogbia and Rodallega seemed to link up really well and I remember really admired that as quality in a team, something we seemed to be missing...

I have always liked the way that with no money in small clubs Martinez still trys to play football and is able to create that feeling in the air a goal could come at any moment no matter how bad we are...

He did this with Wigan, a really really really bad team, who every year have been tipped for going down but stay up! They will go down this year if martinez leaves to I believe...

As reports have shown we are the 5th most successful team in the premiership with great support, More Money than most, a higher wage bill that mot and one of the best youth teams in the country, not to mention one of the highest potential squads in the country!

Using words from the richard keys vocabulary...

If Martinez can do it with Wigan, I believe he will SMASH IT with villa!

Edited *** Called Rodallega - Rodriguez!!! ha

Well said dude I wanted Martinez last year too. Would play the perfect football to suit Bent too, through balls to chase onto instead of hoof it to his head and hope for the best. Ireland and Nzogbia supplying to Bent in a Martinez football side, now that sounds like a winner for me!

i remember there being about 3 votes for Martinez last season, so that must have been us 3 then

I was torn on Martinez last season, but IF he is interested I would have him now.

Poyet I like a lot, and think he would be a good plan B. He has been my preferred one since Ole said he was withdrawing, but if Martinez is interested he is well worth a shot at it.

I am covinced Lambert will be announced as our new manager  in Press conferance at VP tomorrow.
He's just been on SSN. Describing his relationship with the fans he said "it's been great"

'Been great ' as in past tense? Interesting ....

Or "been great" as in so far.... it can be taken in many ways, but I can't see it happening for some reason.

I've just been reading a FanZone blog, Peter Cameron, and this for me says all I feel about Martinez though they are his words not mine:

Quote
Martinez has so far managed two 16th place finishes and a 15th, so there's a level of revisionism perpetuated by the media (and Dave Whelan) that says Martinez is one of the best managers in the league. He isn't. What he is, is a perfectly capable manager who plays a good style of football and wins a lot of games at the end of the season. But were it not for results which were out of their hands on the last day of 2010-11, Wigan would have been relegated and no one would be suggesting Martinez deserves a crack at the top jobs

And I want a manager who doesn't think that Benito Mussolini was a good guy who was misunderstood.

Exactly I'd prefer a manager who thought that what happened to the Bald-Headed Butcher was exactly what he deserved - though probably not what the lamp post deserved. No facists thank you - we have enough problems without attracting bonehead morons of the EDL and BNP.

I voted for him last year so it must have the 4 of us. I'd be happy with him this year. Not over the moon but happy.

From the BBC :

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18190484

"Whether Drury will remain at the club will ultimately be a decision for boss Paul Lambert.
The Scot has already released first-teamers Zak Whitbread and Aaron Wilbraham, with decisions on other players, including Drury, to follow.
"I have had a chat with him. He knows what is going on and he is thinking about a few things," Lambert told the Eastern Daily Press.
"I'll see what he thinks in the next few days. Everybody knows what is happening.
"In the three years I have been here, he has been brilliant. He deserved a fitting game with Celtic and the Norwich crowd coming out."

What does Lambert mean by "he knows what is going on, everybody knows what is happening" as if something is brewing in the background?

Is he referring to the player retention policy or his own position as manager?

You see, here is part of my Lambert worries. Remember how we poured over the insane utterances of the mad one from NI, this would be the same, but in much less understandable scottish grunt.

I'm in the not sure about Martinez camp. Just because Wigan finish seasons strongly doesn't make them a good team. They have been one of the worst teams in the prem for the past 3 years. Jewell and Bruce both got them comfortably mid-table and I don't hear anyone touting those 2 for the job. In fact you could say that Lambert and Rodgers have surpassed Martinez's achievements in one season.

I agree with you here. At the end of the day he's finished lower than those two with a better squad.
