Geeeeeez....POYET!!! Now we're really scraping the bottom of the barrel.

The drama!

The disappointment

We had the Scottish Manager last year - would be a big step up as far as I'm concerned.

I think Ray Wilkins is the best choice as assistant to go with someone like Poyet.

Decent choice, butch is a good coach and would be a perfect foil for poyet, id be happy with that.

I was quite happy to raise the Martinez flag last year and nothing has changed for me. I got excited about OGS but RM has always been my number one. Anyone thinking we are going to challenge the top 4 next season needs medication.

If we are going to sail along in mid-table using younger players then I want to be entertained by the team I go to watch. The reserves & academy play nicely and then they get into the first team and have to play garbage football. I want our first team to knock the ball around and attack with verve just like the kids do when I go to watch them.

IMO the younger players, who looked so good playing like that would flourish under Martinez.

Maybe...you could be right, but I haven't seen anything from Poyet to suggest he's up to the job. He hasn't got Brighton promoted after 3 years, hasn't even made the play offs. They finished 10th in the Championships....at least McLeish got Birmingham back up after 1 season playing is drab football.

I think getting a good assistant or DOF would be a good idea to make up for the inexperience of someone like Poyet.

I remember many a time Everton being in a relegation scrap...I don't want Poyet at Villa doing the same, don't think he will have the bottle to get us out of it like Moyes.

Poyet and Wilkins would be great. Or Clarke.

The roar of the greasepaint and the smell of the crowd.

Marvellous.

Poyet has won promotion for brighton and got them close to the playoffs on a shoestring, certainly not a failure by any means.

Don't let facts get in the way

Everton have had 1 relegation scrap (03-04) in Moyes time and prior to him they had half a dozen in the previous 8 or 9 years under 3 previous managers. The next season he qualified for Champions League.

Poyet did get Brighton promoted to Championship and finished 10th in their first season.
