If we were to appoint Holloway it would only prove him right.

Villas Boas was between a rock and a hard place at Chelsea. The players he was rightly trying to phase out held more sway with the chairman than he did. I don't see the likes Collins and Dunne being in such a strong position.

That doesn't make him a good manager or the next VP messiah, but I wouldn't hold what happened at Chelsea against him any more that I'd be creaming the skidwear if we appointed the EC winner that succeeded him.

I'm not sure how Zola has suddenly become a good manager since guiding West Ham to a nosedive either.

If we are going to go all Chelsea with a dash of left field, maybe that physio is worth tapping up.

Zola, no friggin chance. He was rumoured to be considered for the Melbourne Vic vacancy a few weeks ago. If he is linked with a club in a league the equivalent of League One standard, then no. I'd take probably take Ange Postecoglou over him.

Poyet and Martinez have what a league one promotion under the belt as managers?

Lambert and Adkins piss all over that for starters.

Ah this Solksjaer turning us down lark has left us in a spot of bother. Everyone else will assume he was first choice. Liverpool and Chelsea will attract the decent candidates, I fear that the pool we will be choosing from will be very limited.

Remember back in the 70's when the fan's choice  Brian Clough issued his, 'Come and get me,' plea and the club went out and appointed dour, defensive Ron Saunders instead?..

Not sure what the point is. We might have won even more with Clough.

"Old Big Ead" and "Deadly" together?
We would have had to double the capacity of Villa Park - just to make room for the egos.

After thinking about it, I think AVB could do a fantastic job at VP.

He didn't do that bad at Chelsea, the lowest they were under his management was 6th or 7th I believe. If he had the right backing from RL and moved quickly to remove troublemakers, it could be an inspired appointment.

Plus, going for AVB shows a lot more ambition than the names on the list above.

It is ridiculous going for all these foreign managers. Allardyce, McCarthy or Coyle should be the targets. They have the experience.

It's that kind of thinking that got us into this mess. What terrible suggestions.

Poyet or Nigel Adkins (off the top of my head) are approachable and quite frankly shit on those 3.

Just so you know, DC5 is on the wind up.

I have a bad feeling about all this...it seems as though our young and vibrant manager was OGS...

And now that we have not been able to appoint him, I can see the club panicking and appointing someone like Grayson or McDonald (God help us if they do!)

For me if they wanted to give a manager a chance then why not appoint Di Canio (at least he would tell the players a few home truths)

Much as id like it , i cannot see us tempting avb here, nursey seems to think lambert is the man we want but whatever is going on this time randy and paul are definately keeping it quiet from the media.

Interesting rumour that rdm is to turn down a 1 yr deal at the bridge.

RDM - No thanks

Did anyone notice that when he went up steps after luckily winning the Champions League, he told Abramovich "i have won it"

Also when walking through the airport it showed a clip of him whistling away, as he walked pst the reporters...arrogant tosser!

My Albion supporting friends, were so happy when he got the sack...
