Kmac would be a total disaster- the coyle rumour was a joke on burnleys website saying bolton couldnt agree how much compensation to pay villa to take him off their hands- nothing in it.

Im hoping now norwichs season is over thst randy will go all out to tempt him, most of the other names are very uninspiring.

Not many have mentioned adkins or mcdermott ,would they be worth a go?

There are those still touting it, just as some still think O'Neill for Liverpool. These are all dark rumours but it only takes one snippet from some people and it rolls out of control. Keep an eye on the odds.

McDermott just signes a new contract and committed himself to Reding. Be very surprised if he left now.

Adkins has decen backers at Southampton and could with the money they have, feasibly get them to mid table.....where we will probably aim to be as well. So I don't think he would leave.

http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11669/7773116/AVB-looking-for-right-project

The 34-year-old boss has been out of work since March when he parted company with Chelsea following a testing period in charge.

He is presently being linked with the coaching positions at Liverpool and Roma.

However, his adviser believes the former Porto coach will only return to a club that will provide an environment where he can flourish.

Technical project

Asked about the rumours linking Villas-Boas with Liverpool and Roma, Goncalves answered on romagiallorossa.com: "Liverpool and Roma? Well, what we are looking for is a [club with a] strong technical plan, that is solid and durable.

"Villas-Boas would like to return to coaching in these conditions, but if these conditions are not available, we would have no problems not working.

"I won't confirm or deny contacts with specific clubs. What we are interested in is a technical project, its outlook and a situation that has longevity."

Well after a few days of optimism and all the people who would be interested in the job, we are now at a loss again. That's not a criticism of the board as they be talking to someone brilliant, but it's all a bit of a downer at the moment.

The problem with AVB is he'd want and need a good wedge to make it work.  He won't further tarnish his reputation by bobbing around mid-table.
Possibly, although taking over a squad that's just avoided relegation and getting them into the top half just by imposing his own style of management and coaching would only enhance his reputation. Besides, I would expect us to have some money available for the right buys this summer and someone with a good knowledge of the continental market is more likely to get better value for money than some of our previous managers have.
He is also wealthy enough to be able to afford to take a lower paid job if it presented the right challenge.

The Grayson link is worrying me. At Leeds he kept them in a healthy enough league postion on a really shit budget under old Master Bates but he is relatively young, ex-Villa (signed by Sir Brian IIRC), and may by Saturday night have a promotion under his belt (albeit with someone else's team). Could this have a 'young and vibrant' spin put on it? Was OGS this years Martinez before appointing a 'safe pair of hands' under a new guise?

Hmmmmm, I know don't say it, just thinking aloud!

Adkins is so far out with the bookies he hasnt even got a price,

AVB would be good in my opinion. But it's a question as to whether or not he would be happy to come to Villa bearing in mind our current situation - and also potentially a lack of money being available.

Plus, (in my sad little world!) it would be fun too to have someone with the Middle name "Villa" coaching us - a bit like Arsene Wenger at Arsenal!

the fact that his name is Villa, is the main reason we should appoint him, it makes sense
