If you line up all the potential and gettable frontline candidates - Martinez, di Matteo, Lambert, Rogers, Solskjaer, I'd say four will never build a Champions League-winning team. Solskjaer might. It's a gamble, but let's die trying.

i agree he comes over as intelligent and he obviously likes to play football, though how useful that is with our players i'm not sure. But mainly I just wish he was doing it at a level a bit higher and not where passing herds of reindeer can double the attendances at some grounds and without the major spending behind him. I know we're guilty of thinking we're bigger then we are, but in terms of the leap he'd be making its cornershop to Harrods frankly.

JG had no experience managing a Premiership club......

True, but he was a former player and had been an assistant manager at the club so knew the place pretty well.

Absolutely, I'd be very happy if it happens. I just fear he might turn us down, although conversely it'd be odd for Randy to fly his jet out there if Solskjaer hadn't shown some interest.

If he does get appointed, I can't wait to hear the reaction from the crowd when we string a few passes together...

Another thing - we've never signed a Scandinavian who's let us down.

I think OGS is exactly the kind of guy to do the two things I want from our next manager.

- try to win games
- build the team around Stephen Ireland

Eirik Bakke was a bit of a let down.

A year left on his contract, difficult second album to record after getting to the top of the charts - perfect time to leave, I'd say.

I'm a bit worried that this another appointment made after asking 'Hi Sir Alex, who do you think I should appoint this time your majesty?' He cant be any worse than the last twat he endorsed I suppose.

With the work ethic instilled by Fergie Ireland will be packing his bags already... as will a few of the other overpaid clowns we have.
