I'm feeling rather negative so please excuse the following a little.

It feels like our stock has fallen massively, so now can't get a manager from either Norwich, Swansea or for crying out loud Wigan.  OGS might be brilliant but equally we could be heading for a hat trick of disasters, if we do appoint OGS a 1 year deal would be prudent with an option to extend if successful.

I feel totally under underwhelmed.

This.  Substitute the word "Norway" for "Scotland" and we have the measure of the man as a manager right now.  He has proven very little thus far to suggest he should be managing a Championship team let alone a Premier League team.  This feels like a wind up, and I would be thinking it is a wind up, if it wasn't for the fact that he is now favourite for the job! Dear fcuking me.

yep. shows that a little star dust overrides his record and experience in a lot of people's minds. If his name was Henry From, Brian flies or another one of those comedy manager names from Norway, people would be saying WTF is he? But the baby faced assasin must be good...

To be fair, OGS has always come across as highly intelligent, which is more than can be said for our last manager. I think that Scandinavians who come to ply their trade in England can be assumed to have some nous and initiative. They also speak multiple languages. Basically, they're cleverer, and people tend to respect cerebral types in management. Many of the Scots that play/manage in England have an ultra-simplistic, unsophisticated up-and-at-em attitude. McLeish is a case in point.

I wonder if Steve Kean will be the third Scottish manager sacked this month?

I'm genuinely astonished that people think this is a good move for Villa.  This is the type of appointment maybe Wolves should have made now that they've been relegated.  This is Bryan Robson going to Boro or Roy Keane going to Sunderland - a mediocre club going for a "big" totally unproven name.

Has Derren Brown been around here and hypnotized everyone ?  This screams "small time".  This screams  "reckless gamble" and it screams another bumpy season next year.  Oh, and six more points to man utd too.  Randy must be absolutely broke if this is the best that he can come up with to follow Fergie's letter and McLeish.

It's an appointment that will have people hoping rather than expecting him to do well.

Gamble, brave, exciting, left field, puzzling and possibly CHEAP.

Fingers crossed if it happens.

Randy Lerners plane is confirmed as having landed at Kristiansund airport todya by the airport manager.

Maybe Randy is in a real life version of Brewsters Millions and the only way he can think of to lose money is to make bad decisions about the club, he's even sent his plane to Norway when he could have just rung the guy up... it's also the only way you could possibly explain McLeish.

I'm actually pleasantly surprised with the OGS link. I think the problem (other than the obvious one) with the last 12 months is that the disaster of a manager we have had has made lots of people hyper sensitive to who is appointed next. I don't know whether OGS would do a good job or not, or whether he would come here, but I do know he isn't Mick McCarthy or any other of the dull uninspiring crap that appears to be available at present. We aren't shopping in the AVB supermarket and who knows, OGS may be just as good.

And yes, that logo does look like a fella shuffling.

Agree.  If he didn't have the playing background he has, there would be no way he would be being mentioned.

Same here. Being a fergie-fledgling seems to carry a hell of a lot of weight with our chairman.

I hope he does the biz, but I have my doubts. Brian McLair did all the the things with Man Yoo's youth team that OGS did, received all the same plaudits, and was touted as the next big thing from Fergusons school of management. I think he progressed to Blackburn as a coach, failed miserably and ended up back at United with his tail between his legs.

Solskjaers record is no more impressive after 12 months than Paul Inces was.

Lets hope we haven't been taken in by Sir alexs bullshit in the same way Liverpool have been taken in by Dave Whelans second hand car salesman patter.
