Martinez to Liverpool has all the hallmarks of a disaster
Marvellous

has all the hallmarks of a marriage made in heaven, someone who will play stlyish football and have the backing to buy the players to play it.
he will be a big success for them

which is unfortunate as i like Martinez but dislike liverpool

Id be hoping ogs can see gabby isnt good enough and brings in better players - most of the current lot are just not good enough and a big overhaul would be welcome.
You're right and wholesale changes to the squad are a massive issue for any new manager that comes in.

If I was Randy and couldnt afford to push for CL by competing financially, then my approach would be to invest in young talent at reasonable prices with a young manager who has a good footballing ethos. We may have to settle for mid-table for a few seasons, but at the very least it would be exciting and entertaining.

If ever a manager was well-equipped to get the best out of strikers, OGS is him. I'd be inclined to let him have a season with Gabby before deciding to get rid of him!

To the people saying 'why didn't why go for Lambert and/or Rodgers' - it's entirely possible we enquired and were rebuffed, possibly by the men themselves. With hindsight it looks pretty likely that McLeish has been out since the Bolton game, and we've had all that time to consider his replacement. We may well have finalised a list of candidates by the time we sacked Eck, and set about the task very quickly, getting quick responses. We do like to conduct our business pretty secretively - I mean, this OGS thing has come from nowhere - so there's no reason why we couldn't have done it without anyone hearing about it.

All of Norway is beautiful like that. It's extremely boring though.

I think that's entirely possible, maybe even probable. There's no way however that either of them would ever consider turning down the Villa job if there was money to spend. Hence my theory that the Solskjaer appointment could be one done on the cheap.

If it is the case, there are plenty of proven managers from abroad who should be way above Solskjaer in the pecking order.

Solskjaer for the future? Quite possibly. Solskjaer now? Not for me.

Yes, I was going to add something along those lines myself. I decided that McLeish is just an awful manager who wasn't able to impart his experience effectively. Anywhere.

I'm giving OGS the benefit of the doubt at this stage, on account of him having already been successful where he's been.

Whelan is such a grade a twat. I really hope Racist FC don't offer the job to Martinez. And that the only other club who come knocking on his door and offer a contract for his precious manager are Blackburn.

i like him, and Stan Collymore     ;D

But you also like me, which balances it out.

You're right. Bent was a surprise and McLeish was right out of the blue. It is very possible that this one has caught everyone by surprise. It will be a kick in the balls of the media that had completely written us off. You don't go and appoint a rising managerial candidate like Solskjaer would be without the willingness to start competing again.

Would OGS also be on a relatively small salary in Norway, therefore meaning a smaller compensation package.  With all the money spent recently in compensation for and settlement payments to managers, that may have been a consideration to Randy.

OGS is going to be gutted if and when he leaves Molde, it looks a stunning place to live.

My choice would still be Lambert personally but Solskjaer is a nice idea.

Agreed, lambert has a better track record over the last 4 years and more experience but if it is ogs then he will have my full support and best wishes.

Im just hoping he will be tough enough to boot out the deadwood and problem players , and not be a soft touch.

you don't make it to that level of the game and then become a manager with some success without having a mean and determined streak about you. Don't let the whole Baby Faced Assassin fool you. He has had to be a shrewd operator to have got to where he has.

you have to say that if the board do go for him that will be Houllier, Mcleish, Ole Gunnar every one of them not the obvious choice.
you would have trouble reading Randy's mind,

bet he's brilliant at Poker

After watching the vid, I think there is a good chance he might say no. He's signed a 4 yr deal, clearly loves the place and probably wants his kids to grow up there.
