The more I think about this, if it's true. I think it's a great idea and no risk, no reward. It could if he's given decent backing be a masterstroke.

Mysteryman on Villatalk has endorsed the Solskjaer rumour(now I know he ballsed up on Mcleish, but still).

Endorsed as in said he thinks it's a good move or as in saying there's some truth in it?

Just hope that the board back him and support him. Also, that the fans are patient enough to let him settle in. Must admit I find it laughable that Liverpool have gone for Martinez. Won the total amount of fuck all. Bizarre.

Why is everyone fussed about the standard of the Norwegian league? He can only work with and against what is on offer. Doing well in any league indicates you are a good manager (provided you are consistently successful).

If Alex Ferguson managed in the Norwegian league would that make him a worse manager?

Mcleish won titles in Scotland and got blues promoted in the championship, so it's not so black and white.

My point is though that just because someone manages in a weaker league doesn't mean they are definitely a weaker manager. It wouldn't turn me off the idea of having him as our manager because he's from Norwegian football.

At the same time you're saying success in a weaker league doesn't mean you're a good manager.

And you're spot on there.

If he did get the job,it would be interesting to see what 'older head' he got in as an assistant.

My big fear with McLeish was that all the good work done with the youth was being drummed out of them by our negative statuesque play.

He would offer a refreshing approach which would surely benefit the youngsters.

Martinez given permission for talks with Liverpool.

Where's that come from?

Nobody wants AVB then : http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11661/7762618/No-offers-for-AVB-agent

He's 100% positive it's a done deal.  'The press conference will be Monday but deal will be done in next 24 hours.'

OGS would be an extremely underwhelming signing imo.  He won the league in Norway with Molde which is a good achievement but managing a club the size of Aston Villa is a totally different prospect. Egil Olsen did well in Norway and was a total disaster at Wimbledon.   I really, really hope this is just some bullshit rumour.

Hmm here we go again 'A club the size of Aston Villa'. This huge club has struggled for some time now and needs to know its place. Yes we have history but thats exactly what it is. We need to stop these delusions of grandeur and try and get back to pace with modern football if we have any aspirations of rejoining the elite, which is something we're nowhere near at the moment.

A club that two years ago finished sixth, got to the League Cup Final and the FA Cup Semi-final.

And were so far away from winning any of them its untrue. Even against Utd's reserves I might add.

OGS also has the background of looking after the youth and I reckon that might well be the big attraction to the Board.

I'm quite excited, it could be great (and then he will replace SAF at Utd!!!)

Paul Brown on twitter said: "Would you like to be Villa manager one day?" Martin Laursen replied: "You don't need to ask that Paul. It would be a dream."
