I'm really warming to the idea of Solskjaer, sounds like he tries to play good football and is a high profile name.

It would be brilliant if we got him.

Another point is that the Norwegian league is a bit like the Championship - probably not far off the standard, if it is off it at all - and he won it with good football, by the sounds of things. If you can implement passing football in a physical league with a poor standard of refereeing, and win, then you have to have something.

OGS would be an extremely underwhelming signing imo.  He won the league in Norway with Molde which is a good achievement but managing a club the size of Aston Villa is a totally different prospect. Egil Olsen did well in Norway and was a total disaster at Wimbledon.   I really, really hope this is just some bullshit rumour.

where do you think up and coming managers come from? They cut their teeth somewhere, and usually in an inferior league to the major leagues in Europe. They have to be given a chance at some stage, and the last thing you want is to see one of them end up at a rival club and think why weren't we in for him? Egil Olsen had been a manager for 30 odd years and until Wimbledon, and had no experience playing or managing in England. Solskjaer is exactly the opposite. You can't just take one bad experience and rule out an entire nation.

Lambert is not really a manager with that much more top level experience. Him and Rodgers are only in their 1st season as Premiership managers and if it wasnt for the fact that so many teams have been shite this year could quite easily have ben amongst the strugglers

Why is everyone fussed about the standard of the Norwegian league? He can only work with and against what is on offer. Doing well in any league indicates you are a good manager (provided you are consistently successful).

If Alex Ferguson managed in the Norwegian league would that make him a worse manager?

Apart from being at work so unable to cash in (bugger) I am excited, and there are not many that excite me too much on the list. Who called him first on this thread?

Martinez given permission for talks with Liverpool. Thats one down, apparently DW has cum in his pants that a club the size of Liverpool would be interested in someone he classes as a son.

William Hill are offering odds (admittedly only 66-1) of Emile Heskey being the next manager. I'm surprised he's even on the list.

Mcleish won titles in Scotland and got blues promoted in the championship, so it's not so black and white.

Cue Whelan spouting about what a pleasure it is letting his manager go to a massive club.

I'm in the same boat.

Ole is a bright and likeable figure. And I think he would bring some optimism to Villa Park, and surely be given the patience of the supporters. Someone who has been under the wing of SAF during their glory years has to know something about football.. Winning is winning.

OGS? Fuck it...why not?

Every manager is a risk and unproven until we see results on the pitch at Villa Park.

I'm sure Randy would get another highly recommended letter from SAF too!
