Solskjaer certainly fits the bill of young and up and coming. I don't know much about his football style at Molde, but his results are impressive. Molde are the kind of 'Andy Murray' club of Norway - perennially second to Rosenborg during their golden age of the 90s - so to win the title with them is a genuine achievement.

He's also unique among the Fergie 'proteges' to actually be just that - a protege. Unlike the likes of McLeish, Bruce or Ince - who Red Nose talks up but never mentored - Ferguson says he often thought Solskjaer would be a good manager. One reason is that what made him such a good player from the bench is that he'd be reading and analysing the game, ready to make an impact. This not only means he's good with subs himself, but in other areas of tactics as well.

He's a good motivator (apparently), very popular with his players and, unlike our last incumbent, humble, deflecting praise to his players and criticism to himself. He'd have to be unflinchingly interviewed - asked about what he'd do specifically were he in charge of the club in terms of playing style, recruitment policy and bringing through the kids, but he certainly isn't the worst suggestion I've heard.

dont know if this has been posted, a documentary on what OGS is doing now. Looks interesting

The football looks very impressive.
If you have any doubts or questions about him as a man or a manager, I would recommend this as a watch. The style in which his team plays and the way in which he conducts himself look top drawer to me.

Super Duper Platinum Muppets is where it's at these days.

that's right! We're sifting through all of the rumours right now. We'll let everyone know once we've truly dismissed the Mick McCarthy stories.

And, he's not from the Blues which is all we care about really eh? ;)

OGS would be an extremely underwhelming signing imo.  He won the league in Norway with Molde which is a good achievement but managing a club the size of Aston Villa is a totally different prospect. Egil Olsen did well in Norway and was a total disaster at Wimbledon.   I really, really hope this is just some bullshit rumour.

Having Solskjaer would also be quite efficient for the crowd. When we string mroe the 3 consecutive passes together, something not seen by a home team at Villa Park in a number of years, we could all shout Ole!

It will not only herald the artistry on the pitch, but salute the manager at the same time.

If I find out he so much as smiled  in the geographical direction of the sty everything I've said is null and void.

Just found a good quote from him. After a match against Spartak Moscow in some Cold Countries' Cup or other, he was critical of the dirty, defensive Spartak and said: "If one of my teams ever plays in the way Spartak did today, tell me straight away so I can end my managerial career. But I am pleased that my lads tried to play good football despite the opponents’ dirty tricks and fouls. I would never want my team to leave that sort of impression". That's my kind of guy.

where do you think up and coming managers come from? They cut their teeth somewhere, and usually in an inferior league to the major leagues in Europe. They have to be given a chance at some stage, and the last thing you want is to see one of them end up at a rival club and think why weren't we in for him? Egil Olsen had been a manager for 30 odd years and until Wimbledon, and had no experience playing or managing in England. Solskjaer is exactly the opposite. You can't just take one bad experience and rule out an entire nation.

Hmm here we go again 'A club the size of Aston Villa'. This huge club has struggled for some time now and needs to know its place. Yes we have history but thats exactly what it is. We need to stop these delusions of grandeur and try and get back to pace with modern football if we have any aspirations of rejoining the elite, which is something we're nowhere near at the moment.

It had better not be Solsjkaer.  One year managing the Norwegian equivalent of Moor Green? Come on

And winning the Norwegian equivalent of The Premier League with them.

If Twitter is to be believed, Steve Kean just became available. It's time to pounce.

If this is true then he will have good knowledge of the Scandanavian market, a place where we have found some gems in the past

Totally agree...we are all (well most) quite happy to have Martinez, Lambert, Rodgers and where did they start? In fact, where are they now. They haven't pulled up any trees yet to be fair. I'd add Ole Gunnar to the above in the "yea, would be happy with that" bracket. God know's we need a bit of excitement.

We are never going to get an AVB, Hiddink type manager. Not in our current state anyway..
