The truth is that none of us know whether he's a good choice or not, I'm pretty sure if they hire him they'll have asked him about his vision(i know Mcleish..). However Mcleish had a record of failure in the Premier League, with Solskjaer he might be brilliant we don't know. I'd still prefer Lambert, Martinez or Rodgers but I don't think Solsjkaer is necessarily a poor choice.

I'd take OGS straight away.

I like the fact that he's already known by his initials when he could still be completely unaware of what is happening with regards to his name. That's always a good sign.

So randy is in oslo, he has many business interests other than villa and it could be a business stopover on route to england, we have been linked to many people every time we have looked for a manager and rarely have the press or bookies been in the loop.

100% gospel, expect it on the yellow ticker at any time, but he's meeting Graham Souness at a Service Station. Brown bags have been detected. All Villa players will be asked to sport perms and moustaches next season, and Graham is growing his back as part of a contractual agreement. McDermott will be join him as will Bobby Ball.

If we did get OGS in, it seems obvious to me that we'd have him for about a year before Fergie retires and names him as his successor. He wouldn't be a long-term appointment, in my opinion.

To get the United job in a year, he would have to get us in the top 6 at least in the same period.

I am happy with that!

Some of the stuff being written on here beggars belief!!  Does anyone truly believe that Solskjaer would walk in to one in the most prestigious jobs in world football on the back of one Norwegian title and one 6th placed Premiership finish?

I reckon Norway is a bluff.

He's actually halfway across the bridge connecting Denmark and Sweden, piecing together two halves of two different football managers who have been sawn in half.

Very good, Paulie! - and wonder if he's shagged the wife of one of the victims yet?

Randy is more of a Saga Noren than a Martin Rohde, mind - awkward communicator, every now and then appears to be nuts, that kind of thing.

Why Solksjaer? A season or 2 coaching Man.Utd reserves and year in Nowrway....WOW!!! I seriously wonder if Lerner/ Faulkner have any idea what to do.

Why is it that Villa have never ever had a man in charge who has actually boasted in cv of achieving things, winning cups, leagues....I don't count Scotland! You're meant to have a few quid behind you Randy, well start investing in a top man first and see where that gets you. I bet a lot further than the last 2 calamity's you pulled out of the bag!

I'd imagine they've thought "who are the most talked about up and coming young managers in Europe, and let's talk to them if they're interested"

I think they are absolutely right to do that.

I'd be much much more concerned if they did the same shit thing as the last two times - they put PL experience at the top of the list and found themselves fishing in a very small pool, and then found out that said pool was full of rusting supermarket trolleys and no decent fish.

Give them a chance, I say. No, OGS hasn't won anything as a manager, but that means fuck all. Our last manager had won stuff in Scotland and England, and look how shite he was.

OGS won the Norweigian league last season with Molde. First time Molde have ever won it.

True, but I wouldn't really want to meet him in a bar asking whether I want sex with him.

Good point, but maybe a little different as Guardiola had been at Barcelona for years, and imbued in their football philosophy.

Personally, I am just happy the club are being adventurous in who they approach. It's also only a meeting (as far as we know).

Soksjaer might be brilliantly convincing, or he might be utterly unconvincing, we just don't know. I at least think it makes good sense to talk to him.
