McCarthy will relegate us. He's not as bad as McLeish, and at least will try to attack more, but his style of play is just as ugly. He's just not the choice who can undo the damage done and change the team round. Fact is he'd do more damage. I actually think in fairness, that had McCarthy stayed on at Wolves they'd have turned the corner. He tends to have a late season flourish, so they dropped a bollock in that respect. Whether he would have done enough to keep them up I'm not sure. Possibly. I actually like Mick, he always seems an honest, decent bloke, but he's not a very successful top flight manager. He's good at getting promotions, but has a track record or relegations too.
He's championship standard.

If Randy drops another bollock it'll cost him. Fans will fuck off in droves. We'll get spanked this time next year by relegation costs, and he'll have to sell up in order to stop us falling into financial oblivion. I don't want that, because it means we're reliant on someone bailing us out. If they do, fuck knows who it'll be and what sort of messes they might make. Randy's done a lot of shite the last two years, but think of all the Venky's and Hicks's out there. For every bored super rich Sheikh, there's one of those guys.

We need someone young, fresh and pro-active. Someone who will deliver attacking football and be ambitious no matter our transfer budget.

spot on. i wonder what this is doing to people thinking of renewing season tickets? At the moment I refuse to believe that PF/RL could be such fuckwits but with us you never know.

We are being linked with some very underwhelming names!

If Randy is on a budget re the Manger / Management...

I would much rather have a DOF in Cowans and Head Coach in MacDonald

and get new management into the youth set up...

PS Dave Whelan is a total tw@t... does he need reminding that villa have finised 6th 3 times in last 5 years, once in top half and had 1 awful season, we also are big enough to buy there best player and half our attendance is still bigger than wigan's! he has really wound me up today! ha

I think Martnez is out cos randy will not want to deal with that prat again!

I know one bloke who will be chuffed if we get MM. That ice cream man will double his sales again if he pitches up on Witton Lane during the expected protests as he did last year.

Screwball?

Bolton Chairman, Phil Gartside, has 'reluctantly agreed' to let Aston Villa approach Owen Coyle. Rumours were rife last night that Coyle would spearhead a new Villa management team with Sam Allardyce likely to come in as Director of Football.

And Reo-Coker on the understanding that he is made captain and can play centre forward. I have also heard rumours Frank Worthington might be brought in to jazz up things at the Holte Pub too.
Joking aside, I think Reo-Coker will be part of the package. Also Kevin Davies, as reported earlier.

i'm trying to think of some vibrant managers. Not the first term that springs to mind normally when you're describing them. Is lambert vibrant?

Unfortunately thanks to your last 9 months of posting, this isn't really working.

Lerner has been seen at WHSmith in Birmingham airport leafing through a book of Yorkshire slang.

All the Mccarthy stuff is coming from Mick's agent, just like a player getting interest drummed up, being linked to a job like Villa is good for his profile. No way it will happen.

talking to a bookie last night and he didn't put too much credance in the MM rumours. Mind you, he works for BetFred and they pay out even when punters get it wrong.
