Then why did he motivate his players to beat us and cost us the money we could have got from finishing above Wigan? The dastardly bounder.

Maybe it was because our lot were so bloody poor that Norwich looked good? Or that he's a pro who's still manager of Norwich?

He did seem very flustered in his post-match interview so it wouldn't surprise me if deal was done. I mean, even McLeish barely got off his ass at a villa match since Bolton. 2+2= 4, McLeish knew he'd be gone at the end of the season and Villa had already taken soundings from Lambert?!

Why have about 5 people I know (non-villa) texted me "McCarthy?! Lol"  :( this isn't real is it?

Because they want to pull your fucking wang and seemingly are doing a good job of it.

Funnily enough the same thing happened around 11 months ago.

I know, I know. The scars. They run deep don't they?

AVB @ 40/1 deal done!!

Would happily lose my stake on Lambert or Rodgers but that's the three for me!!

Or David Platt ;-)

Roy Kean and Steve Keane would be good. Maybe with Chris Houghton and Ray Hughton as reserve coaches.

If Lambert's been tapped up, then call me a prick, as I'd be well happy with that. It's about time we went and got our man. I know there are some decent names that would do as good a job, but he seems to be the type of bloke that is ready to step up. His exposure to football in Germany means he is a student of the game and will, given the right opportunity cast his net out wide to find the right players and keep learning about the game.

well there's definitely something in this Steve Nicol thing as he has dropped to 28-1. Not earth shattering I grant you, and I'll start to brick it when he hits single digits. I've been on the Toronto FC website and they had someone mention it in their version of Off Topic. Off to check out the New England forum. Those fans won't be happy as he is very popular over there. His teams are very organised and play some nice stuff on the deck.

Toronto, there's not "definitely something in this Steve Nicol thing" whatsover, as I said before, a movement of that nature, in a market this small, means absolutely nothing whatsoever.

By your own measurement, if there's something in Steve Nicol based on that movement, then Mick McCarthy must be getting his initials painted on his new parking space at Bodymoor Heath.

It's nice that this time they aren't on about PL experience etc and seem to be acting more competently.

A friend of mine in America texted me to say they were repeating the Man City game on one of their "Soccer" channels and started talking about general football in the studio afterwards, eventually moving onto Villa. Nicol was mentioned as being a personal friend of Lerner's. Apparently McLeish went over to talk to him at the same time he went over to chat to the Cleveland Browns guys.

That might be why people are suggesting Nicol maybe? The one pundit seemed absolutely convinced we'd go for him.
