Martinez gone right out, by comparison, 6/1 in places from odds on.  Lambert back in the chair at 6/4-2/1. And you're right MickMac at 5/4-6/4 out of nowhere. Holy bejazus.! Rodgers and Curbs still bubbling away in dbl figs 10/12-1.
The BoD have the opportunity of a lifetime and ...well I hope it is just bookies speculation to draw in losers! I've enough of it.

Bookies out here have Steve Nicol as a dark horse at 33-1. Ignored it initially at 50-1 but it's fallen so something is happening. He's been managing in the MLS with the New England Revolution. Apparently Randy has been impressed by him and he has a winning mentality from his playing days at Liverpool. He has won the MLS Cup and been coach of the year here.

Style of football?

All the defenders huddle around one bloke who picks the ball up and chucks it at the attackers, it'll never catch on here!  ;)

If you genuinely think Mick McCarthy is a contender... well, I dont really know what to say.
I suppose I have no right to laugh at you because of what happened last year but this would actually trump that considerably.

Randy and Faulkner would have to genuinely be the thickest twats in the universe.
They've given McLeish the bullet because they realise their mistake. That he's costing the club money and reputation. You dont honestly think they'd sack him at expense to appoint somebody even more useless?

What exactly is McCarthy supposed to have done to earn such lofty positioning? Was it his awesomely terrible Sunderland team? His impossibly shit Wolves side?

Some gobshite with more money than sense has put some money on it or somebody is having a lend of somebody else with some info.
There's nothing else to it.
If there is, Randy should sell his plane because if he appointed McCarthy I'd have him shot down over the Atlantic on his next visit.

But, there isnt.

I wouldn't have thought anyone is staking massive amounts so any half decent amount on Mccarthy will make his price drop a lot in the betting. We will know that the bookies know something when someone becomes odds on or the betting is suspended.

If they appointed McCarthy, on top of everything this season.....well, I think I'd give up Villa, football altogether and possibly breathing in the same day.

If the board hadn't made the mental decision to appoint McLeish last year, stuff like this wouldn't scare the crap out of me.

yeh, but it also shows how easy it is for things to be made up and then taken as gospel.

The fact that we've got pages on Mick McCarthy is embarrassing. I get the fact that we appointed that numpty last year and people are a bit worried.  But we never got the type of board response, and from the chairman that we got this year. Something is very different. We're not going to be appointing McCarthy. Not now, not ever. He'd be the type of signing that would be exactly what McLeish was and given where we are 10 times as bad. If the board want to sink the club without trace they'll appoint him, Curbishley, Gary Pendry, Trevor Francis etc etc. They're not going to because it will be suicide. If they really wanted suicide they could have just kept McLeish and not paid him off.

don't know but even five quid have been too much. I'm sure he walked away with a few undeserved zeroes. We've been badly burnt by 3 successive managers now and I don't think Randy's all that happy. That's why the next bloke in won't be any of the naff being bandied about.

I am suspending my natural miseryarseness and fully believe that the board do genuinely intend to appoint a man who is going to reinvigorate the club.  That man isn't Mick McCarthy.

People who think that McCarthy is in the running, are probably the.same folk who thought Mcleish wouldn't get sacked.

Ain't gonna happen.

Think about it..McL is on maybe £12m severance pay. Mick will come cheap.
You could not say RL is not 'a careful man with a dollar'. A year's contract to prove himself one way or tother whilst they screw the fans for another few bob to fill his ravished coffers? Naah he ain't that sort of capitalist exploitative rabble is he?Not our benevolent randy...naah. What a thought!
Jurgen Klinsmann at £10m a year and the cream of German footie to follow..or the scrapings of a demoted Wolves on the cheap.. naaah! Naah, they'd never do that to us!
Randy would not be that canny but he may have learnt something from the Scot!

I'm buying a few shares in bed linen just in case,
profits in house and home will soar if this actually does happen
