I might be late coming to this but I was listening to Talksport on the way home and they reckon Mick McCarthy is favourite for the Villa job and were royally ripping the piss as a result.

Mick McFuckingCarthy?!  Is Randy having a laugh?  Is it some kind of cruel social experiment to see how far you can push football fans before they crack and burn the ground down?!

I think I'd rather McLeish have stayed than us end up with that plonker.

Bookies markets are easily led with a few high bets. All it takes is one punter fancying the odds when they're good (33-1 he was earlier), putting a large amount down and then the bookies will change their odds and more money will go on it.

Thing is, after the appointment last season you wouldn't put it past them.

First text from a bluenose laughing saying we are getting McCarthy. Has gone quiet since I told him his likely destination...Not a chance in hell.

Martinez - Liverpool
Lambert - Villa
Hughton - Baggies
McCarthy - Blose

I'd have a 50p Yankee on that

Seems incredibly likely to me.

Good statement to be fair. Now get Lambert!

Not keen on Lambert, he will use us as a stepping stone as he has with all other clubs he has managed.  I want somebody for the long term.

Stepping stone to who? Man Utd, Arsenal? He would have to had done an amazing job at Villa to get a better job than us. Get him in.

I thought he spoke very well in fairness, Faulkner that is, not Murphy! We shall see.

I just caught it on WM and have to say, I thought Mutphy took him to the cleaners.

All that "well, with the benefit of hindsight, it is easy to say it was a bad appointment" stuff - Murphy was clearly having none of that.

I remember similar being said when the McLeish rumours started last year.
