Toronto , seen ssn about 1 hour this week , hardly 24/7- just repeating the odds they have just quoted, im backing lambert but with randy and faulkner it could be anyone.

1 hour? The needle on my Chinometer just snapped off.

"Compelling play and results that instil a sense of confidence that Villa is on the right track have been plainly absent.''

That statement from Lerner shows he won't be hiring McCarthy, Bruce, Megson or the like.

I don't think we'll be seeing that massive cranium in the Villa manager's dug out anytime soon.

Ol' Box Head will be very lucky to get another top flight gig.

That said, it shows how much our profile has taken a battering that such a non entity could even be loosely associated with the position.  But then I guess that's what happens when Curbishley, McLaren and you know who have all been serious contenders (and worse) for the position since 2010.

Sky reporting mick mccarthy odds tumbled from 25-1 to 2-1 2nd favourite in last hour - surely they wouldnt would they?

fuck me eastie. Have you learnt nothing good comes from watching that bollocks 24-7? Do you think the board, that just put out a damning statement, really about themselves would fire McLeish, and then turn around and appoint McCarthy. The same McCarthy that has been fighting relegation with a local rival every year he's been in the PL?

Yes. Who on Earth would have confidence in our board after the last appointment? Apart from people connected to Villa it really would be fucking hilarious though wouldn't it?? McLeish to McCarthy, it's like something out of some sick twisted nightmare. At least Randy might be sectioned after that appointment??

it is true TV, no one in the world thought they would appoint Mcleish but they did,

i dont believe they are looking at Mcarthy, but there track record suggests that anything is possible, and that has been proven in the past

First text from a bluenose laughing saying we are getting McCarthy. Has gone quiet since I told him his likely destination...Not a chance in hell.

Martinez - Liverpool
Lambert - Villa
Hughton - Baggies
McCarthy - Blose

In my humble opinion, we'd have got the best deal if that proves prophetic. I'm hoping 'pool haven't an eye on Lambert, Rodgers or AVB.

It won't be McCarthy, he doesn't wear glasses.

Our appointments go... glasses one (Taylor), big centre-half (O'Leary), glasses one (O'Neill), big centre-half (McLeish)... we're due a glasses one.

So it will be Paul Lambert.

McCarthy will have a good shout next time though, it'll be him or Neil "Razor" Ruddock.

I thought I heard him walking around Birmingham earlier, but it was just some bloke using coconuts.

i think if Dalglish is sacked Martinez will be a shoe in at Liverpool,

i would put a few quid on but he's already favourite and the odds are rubbish,
although i would love him at Villa he is probably a better fit for them, they have been bought up on pass and move football and probably have players more capable than us of playing that way at first.

whereas Lambert is probably a better fit right now for Villa, as he is more of a thinking mans MON and more of what we are used to,
the only reason i would still put Martinez at the top of my wish list, is because i think he could given time change the whole culture at Villa, in a similar way to what Wenger did at Arsenal

Perhaps the real question is Who Wants to be our New Manager!!

Will Lambert, Martinez et al swop from their present job to come to B6. Looking at the final league positions and with Lerner/Faulkner in charge, is the Villa job more attractive, and if the Liverpool job becomes vacant, they are likely to be a preferred choice for an up and coming manager.

Unless Randy offers significant transfer funds, VP may not be an attractive choice except for dead legs like Bruce etc.

Faulkner said earlier that relegation was too close a call this time so i hardly think they're going to employ a bloke who just about kept his side up on the last day of the season on goal difference 12 months ago. They've had their fingers burnt with McLeish and besides they need to sell season tickets.

We brushed with relegation the season before too and look what happened then

I think jumped up Lplop will think they are too big for Martinez, the most deluded supporters on the planet.

IF Daglish goes, i would'nt be surprised if FSW goes back there.
