Looks like our man Martinez is the fans favourite then ...........come on Roberto !!!!!!

Forgive me if I've missed something here, but exactly how do you work out Martinez is the fan's favourite?

Who is then if not RM?

Why don't you start a poll and find out?  I'd say it's be either Lambert or Rodgers.

But just because you brought him up and a few members have said nice things about him, with what seems a fairly equal number saying 'no thanks', does not make him the fan favourite.

OK - maybe it does it WarleyWonderLand.

What on earth is going to tempt him to Villa that's better than last summer?

There are a few managers I would avoid like the plague -Megson, Reid, McLaren, Warnock.  Apart from those, almost anyone except McLeish.  In fact I'd even have Warnock or McLaren ahead of McLeish.

WHAT?????   Are you deranged man?

You prefer AM to RM?????

Is is because you have subscribed to the AM fan club and you want your money worth

I think it is possible not to want Mcleish but to not want Martinez either.

It's more a case of who will come here.
Martinez ain't going to come to Villa; Everton more likely if (as seems quite possible) Moyes moves on.
Brendan Rodgers, Paul Lambert and Nigel Adkins will stick for another season I think; unfinished business at their current clubs.
Brian McDermott will stick; and, anyway, he's been at Reading for 11 years and is bound to want to see if they can make it in th etop flight.

The options are either abroad or in the lower leagues. But I don't know who it might be!

And, here's the real problem: nor will RL know, since he does not seem to have many senior / respected / 'been there-done-it' footballing people in his corner right now.

Haven't Reading got Russian money coming in?  He might well have more money to spend where he is.

that's what worries me

No money
Disaffected squad
Absentee chairman, leaving him to take the flak
Fans ready to jump on his back with silly proests if we aren't top after the first 5 games

Hate to say it, but If he's got any sense he'd be holding out for the Spurs job

For 'fans favourite' read 'WarleyWonder' likes him, and as we know, WarleyWonder speaks for us all.

I don't even think WarleyBewildered likes Martinez, he just likes him more than McLeish.

If that is the criteria, then I declare Megan Fox to be the fans' choice, as I prefer her to McLeish.

Chris Hughton - working wonders twice on poor resources. I doubt the club would go down to the end of that particular road for a second successive summer. Paul Lambert would be my choice. Brendan Rogers wouldn't come, for the same reasons Martinez rejected us last season. He could do better and probably will. We may have a "proud history" but too many up and coming managers will be worried they can bring a "bright future" with make do and mend.

So Wigan have had a couple of decent results, I still wouldn't want Benitez with Ringworm here.

I repeat it's the approach of the manager towards a passing and entertaining game, more than who that man is. We desperately need a manager in touch with the modern possesion based game.

Somebody who can teach how to pass and move and who doesn't make players stay rigidly within their set zones.
