I'm a little confused about the Lambert love-in. Didn't I read on here that when we played Norwich some people thought they had one of the worst defences seen at Villa Park in a long time?

It's because his side doesn't get twatted by a Manc club. Oh wait.

I don't think we can go with a younger manager. Damage has been done this season and its going to take an experienced head to sort it out. I don't know who though.

I can see the logic, but an older manager isn't necessarily a foolproof solution either.  More experience, but with that often comes a stubbornness, a reluctance to change/ adapt.  As we know ourselves only too well. And McLeish is hardly a young up and coming tracksuit manager.

So my preference would be a younger manager, but with the caveat that he works under a technical director.  There needs to be a clear direction and vision for the club, and whilst a manager/coach plays a key part in this the plan needs to be big enough that even a change in the dughout doesn't alter it all that much.

O'Neill left and the thing turned to shit, as most of the staff went with him.  Houllier left, and we missed out on a number of players that would have benefited us a great deal. We can't keep having the thing completely thrown up in the air and starting again from scratch with the new manager -whoever he may be- calling all the shots.  Until he too gets the bullet or moves elsewhere.

McDermott? Should Reading go up he'll have gone as far as he can with them.

it is difficult,
and i think there is a whole lota luck involved to, just look at Newcastle, everyone thought they'd fall even lower with Pardew and the blokes turned the ship round,

then there is certain managers who do great at one club because its suits them then they move and just cant recreate it, some managers are just a good fit for the club, its not an exact science, no one can explain it , just happens that way.
we are just looking for our 'good fit' not a lot to ask !

Which is entirely why I believe MON will end up at Forest before he retires. But as regards us, I do agree we need 'a good fit'. It worked to a certain extent with both BFR and Brian Little.

Lambert, Rodgers, di matteo, McDermott.

But haven't kendrick and the like said there's no chance of mcleish going?

To be honest Matt, Kendrick is another one who needs to go.  He has shirked asking any telling questions of McLeish and the heirarchy this season.   At least that one journalist at the Evening Mail (whose name escapes me) gave O'Leary a hard time when things weren't going well.  Prime example: when Faulkner came out with that nonsense about finishing 6th.  Why didn't Kendrick pull him up on that?

Kendrick spoke very well about us on R5 this afternoon, trashed the 'it's where he came from' myth and said it like it was. Fair play to the guy!

Ronald McDonald with Hamburgler as no.2

Has anyone mentioned Villas Boas?

I'd like him, he's available and his name would suit too. Plus he wouldn't  have to work with wankers on the scale of Cole, Terry and co.

Kendrick only knows what the club want him to know- im sure if randy had plans to sack mcleish he wouldnt be tipping off the press about it- we can only hope faulkner goes as well as mcleish.

I keep hearing from so called in the knows thst mcleish will not be here next season- lets hope they are correct!

If the club had any ambition they would be looking at Moyes' reaction after the cup game. Now there is a guy who's gone as far as he can at Everton and needs a new challenge, and if there was ever a time to get him it would be this summer. Unfortunately the club hasn't any ambition...

It's unfair to say that when we pretty much know we went for him before, at a time when, if your reading of his body language is correct, getting him out of Goodison would have been harder.

But, unless Randy is going to free up funds again, why would he take the job?
