So, the Yam Yams didn't do the applause for Stan, eh? Surely they should all be stoned to death or hung from cranes in public.

I really hate all this public posturing you have to do in the UK. Poppies, minute of applause, flowers in front of the palace. It's worse than fucking North Korea at times.

I don't give two shits about about whether or not they applauded. The point is they criticised us for doing it. How in any way is it up to them how we choose to show our support for someone with a serious illness?

No, the thread posted by Paulie is mainly about them not wishing to join in because Villa fans say they must. And I agree with them.

Well the only quibble I have with them is the language they couch their objections in. The point is valid, the sentiment is vile. And then they call us Scouse wannabes and grief-mongering. Well, the Villa fans who criticised them for not clapping are overly sensitive and incorrect to do so, but the disproportionate, braindead and moronically hateful responses deserve the strongest possible criticism.
There are plenty of the latter on here. I am not clapping on the 19th minute any more. It's boring. I shall be thinking of the Syrians and the plight of women in Afghanistan instead.

Well do that if you want. Many others do not place such a quota on their goodwill.

Whatever happens to us this season I thank the lord I don't occupy the same sewer as some of these fucking animals.
Yes, just like the Villa c***s chanting "let him die".

Doesn't sound like many were singing and they were quickly stopped by our own fans. And widely condemned by anyone with more than half a brain cell.

That lot chose not to take a minute of their lives to show support to a fella recently diagnosed with a potential life ending illness.
I'd take a bet that had the Sky cameras and Tim Lovejoy told them to boing boing for the cameras and make twats of themselves for 60 seconds most of them would have.

Every single post on the subject has condemned that. How many of that lot have done the same?
I know. What are "that lot" supposed to be condemning Dave? I don't follow.

Did you see the stuff about Scousers?
Have I missed something? It is a 2 (TWO) page thread and Villa fans are called "Scouse wannabes" and "grief merchants". We dish it out to others on a regular basis. Can we not take it?

Well, it's not all of Sandwell that is contributing to a tiny thread on a Baggies forum either.

It was most of them not bothering to clap though, and i'd assume most would use the same reasons as expressed on that site.

Is that meant to infer sheep-dom on me or on people who applaud in the 19th minute? Or just a good, old-fashioned Melchett-esque noise?

Texts can have many different readings as I'm sure you know Monty. I will just say that I limit myself to giving my honest opinion about coercive/organised (as opposed to spontaneous) public and collective displays of grief and emotion.

I definitely stop short of facile assumptions and judgement of others.*

I agree. I applauded the first time round, but I think we should give not a rest now and let Petrov get on with his treatment without us bringing it up at every game. There's too much of public grief in football these days, i.e. minute silences etc. I can see why it begins to grate with some people.
