I have not seen Dempsey say anything to any tv or radio broadcaster. His agent may have, to get his client a bigger pay day and therefore the agent a bigger share of the spoils, but i have not heard Dempsey say anything himself. JMO of course.

Agreed Hoppo but I am afraid that the Premier League is to blame for this unbalanced sense of expectation from some of our supporters, we are not and unlikely to be in the near future owned by a ridiculously wealthy oil sheik. Let's get behind PL and all the players and show this money focused Premier League we can compete with the best of them.

I wasn't aware that any Premier League club other than Man City were owned by oil sheikhs.  The likes of Sunderland, Swansea, Everton, Spurs, Stoke and all the other teams we've fallen behind certainly aren't.

Yes, but they've all got different financial agendas. Spurs, for example, have just enjoyed Champions League football off the back of some astute 'cheaper' signings and a slice of luck that it all came together at the right time. Everton have had the same squad for 3-4 seasons and regularly offload a player for a stupid price to enable another to come in. Sunderland and Stoke are following the MON model of spend now, hope it works and if it doesn't, look odds-on for relegation. And Swansea...well, let's see where they are in May before we get out the razors, yeah?
