I think a different approach is needed with our kids. Perhaps we need to loan more of them out at a younger age, and then scout them the same way as we would new signings. I know we don't put a lot of store in whatever TSM says, but according to someone I know who has spoken to him, we are too interested in winning trophies at reserve and youth level to let them go and develop in more competitive football.

Dawson's a good player and to be honest developed massively I used to think he was rubbish. Can't see any truth in us bidding though.

Dawson......christ no, the Titanic turns quicker, and we already have Dunne whi is very similar. If we are after a CH, then i would prefer Douglas.

Dos Santos would'nt be the worst gamble on loan.

Doyle, works hard, holds the ball up, never scores, is 28/29.If we are going to buy a forward, then pay a bit more and get Sturridge.

Central midfield.......Capoue has'nt moved yet has he?

£20m, but probably guarantee survival, and 2 good prospects.

Oh and give Bpool anyone from Bannan, Delf, Clark, in exchnge for Ince.

Fair enough but Douglas, Dos Santos and Sturrdidge wouldn't join us so thats why we're after Doyle, Dawson etc.We have to be realistic here.

Try a cheeky loan move for Rooney  :o

I felt our back 4, once Clark saw red, looked okay.
Mentioned a few times that Baker is underrated. Yes, he probably lacks a touch of pace, but with a quick full back (Lichaj) it could work.
He'll improve immensely playing next to Vlaar.

Regarding Clark:
Someone earlier remarked that he was 'Barryesque' he's not far off the mark with that comment, so, Why not try him in Barry's position on the left of midfield?

Douglas Teixeira would be a better and cheaper alternative to Dawson.

I'll get shot down for this but David Bentley on loan for a season with an agreed fee wouldn't be bad. His stock couldn't get any lower after his last couple of years (another player who ruined their career by going to Spurs). He could play that role behind the strikers and go out wide when needed so he can provide width and always had a cross on him as well as being good at set-pieces.

A big no for Bentley. He dose'nt seem bothered nowadays does he? He did'nt pull up any trees at Small Heath, although playing under Mcleish might have had something to do with that. He'll end up on loan somewhere on stupid money and do nothing.

I'd love Dawson, he's come-on immensely in the last fes seasons. All of my Spurs mates are amazed that AVB's getting shot.

As for Doyle, no thanks. Ok, but nothing more and we'd never get anything like value for money. Having already sold Fletcher Wolves would be loathe to sell him and therefore we'd have to pay silly money for a pretty average player. I don't think that's on anyone's hymn-sheet at the club any more.

Way I see it is we're skint, although Lerner will have to make the bare minimum investment just to try to avoid the flak he rightly has coming his way.
So our market is probably lower league, bosman frees and loans unless our new scouting system can unearth a few foreign gems, a la Newcastle.

With this in mind I like the look of the following:

Goalie (first choice and cover!) - Butland, Hamer

Defence - Cresswell, and one of Olsson or Stearman

Midfield - Ince on the wing, playmaker - Adam if we could afford him, otherwise Huddlestone and a hardman so one of Nolan, De Jong on loan or Palacios

Up front - Doyle if we could afford him, or gamble on one of Rhodes or Mackail-Smith

Ditto for fucking Stearman?? Huddlestone has gone to Stoke, Nolan probably wouldn't and De Jong definately wouldn't join us.

The players named on the majority of posts on this thread shows just how far backwards we have gone - whilst seemingly every other team has gone forwards .

I really hope our new foreign scout has a few rabbits up his sleeve for this week.

@ IrishCockney - are you a Wolves fan trying to pimp moves for Doyle and Stearman? I'd rather we stick with what we've got than waste money on that pair!

I was actually thinking that myself, backwards is an understatement, and to think how fast we've gone backwards, pretty much championship standard, maybe bit harsh but we are pretty much further back than the o  leary days. The targets/ links are quite erm well not exciting

Dawson is massively overrated and Baker is better IMO.

To his credit, he gave me a great, big laugh with Stearman. Excellent stuff.
