I think it will be Bennett from Boro as he is the cheaper of the options available.

Ince was good for Blackpool yesterday. Still would like that Brahimi kid - cheap and ability to do something unexpected.

A great one for us to get would be Moses. He could play behind Bent, hold the ball, beat a man, get some goals and be very creative.

Matt Kendricks take on the Carroll and Adam Johnson rumour taken from his live web chat :-

"There's no truth in the Carroll thing as far as I know. Lambert did express a tentative interest in him earlier in pre-season, but I don't think it has gone any further than that and I really can't see it happening"

"As for the Adam Johnson links, I know Villa have enquired about him in the past (last summer), but from what I'm told Paul Lambert said at the fans' forum last week, wingers are not his priority"

If Andy Carroll was at villa park yesterday , he certainly was not on our ground tour!

Andy Carroll wants to be closer to home not further away. That's why I think he'll still be at Liverpool on September 1st.

I think Charlie Adam and Kenwyne Jones are his targets, fairly uninspiring, and will require removing Warnock, Hutton and Makoun from the wagebill first.  I think a left back will come in regardless, Bennett or Poulsen.

I would be happy with Adam, Jones, one of the left backs and maybe a centre back. Adam and Jones were both quality the season before last and are kind of what we need. And before the usual deluded comments start about them not being good enough for us, we were nearly relegated last season, we are not Barcelona. With the right management and a steady run in the team, they would both do a good job.

I think Dyer at Swansea would be a perfect fit, doesn't play out and out wide, cuts in and links up,intelligent player, works hard, deserves an England call up. Was really impressed with him last season.

If Allen went for 15 million, god knows what he'd cost.

totally agree with the support for Ken and Charlie that is where we are and what we need. Infinitely relieved that the pony tailed misogynistic excuse for a human being also on the dipper's books looks like he is not on our radar.

I was full of hope this season, new players were coming in, shit ones going out, could not wait for the season to begin and then i get a call from a mate who was there saying "Mate this is just as boring shit that we saw under TSM"

I watch MOTD as he was a little pissed and all i see was a long range effort from Vlaar

Come on randy FFS let the guy have a chance and spend on some decent players - its pretty obvious we need them

Get the feeling that Joe Allen (and Brendan Rodgers for that matter), is very quickly going to regret leaving Swansea.

How much were you expecting to have changed in the course of one competitive match, though?

Incidentally, if you'd seen the whole match, you'd have seen signs of plenty of things starting to change, but it is going to take time, there's no getting away from it.

I agree, he needs to invest on players, but this isn't something we're going to be able to buy ourselves out of, as it involves changes deep into the psyche of the club, and we can't afford to buy an entire new squad.

Yes, but PL came in 2 months ago and the signings haven't been enough to bolster the squad with more quality. Any more injuries and we're fucked. THE SQUAD IS TOO LIGHT!!
