Spurs could also be looking at Carroll I think as a possible replacement if the contract negotiatons with Adebayor don't get solved.

We just have to trust Lambert to get it right and Lerner to give him enough backing. For sure we need more quality before the deadline otherwise we are in deep trouble but Lambert would know this himself.

My main concern about Carroll would be his attitude.  If he genuinely wants to play and is determined to prove himself then he could be a good signing.  If he doesn't want to leave Liverpool though or only really wants to go back to Newcastle, then we could have another Stephen Ireland situation on our hands.   

I don't get the comments suggesting that he would only be of any use if he is supplied with crosses though.  Yes, he is good in the air and scores goals with his head, but he is also not the worst with the ball at his feet, can hold the ball up well and has a good strike on him.  I personally can't see happening, but I think it would be a very good signing provided for us he came with the right attitude .

You cant really get 2 more contrasting players than Bent and Carroll so they may well work together and form a great partnership. I'd prefer an inspirational foreign signing plucked from obscurity with skill, flair and eye an for goal than someone like Carroll, but if PL thinks he'll suit his style then we have to keep the faith. Whether or not there is any truth in these rumours is another story.

I too think Bent and Carroll would work a treat.  I just don't think Carroll would be interested in signing for us.   

We've already blown a fortune in wages on a player that has clearly no interest in being here, so as we're shopping in the 2nd tier market attitude has got to be a key consideration.

Remember the first day of the season a couple of years ago when Carroll tore us a new one and got a hat trick? Newcastle weren't exactly hoofing it long that day, which disproves this notion that you have to play a certain way with him in the team. As long as he wanted to come and we didn't pay silly money, I'd take him. I think Bent would be overjoyed if we did too.

I think if Carroll doesn't come here, wherever he goes he will come good and we will be cursing the fact we didn't get him. Sometimes you just need to gamble. I think he could be a massive success here. Go get him PL/RL

Yes please to Caroll I can't see how people would be against it, and Liverpool have to pay us for Downing don't they? If they don't I'd report them, they have just spent £15m on Allen
