According to the Star on Sunday, Stoke are willing to pay £3m for Richard Dunne, it's probably bollocks though.

Warnock not in squad for tomorrow's game.Hope something is happening.

He's been treated to the full Alan Hutton by Lambert after that horror show at Forest. It's a stinging message from Lambert that first Hutton, now Warnock can't even make squads for friendly games.

It's ok banishing these players from the squad but they need replacing fast - the squad is woefully thin. Lerner should sell up because he clearly won't commit money into the club.

Izaguirre would be an excellent signing. Question marks over his injury track record and how much he would cost though.

I would be ecstatic if we got Izaguirre, but I think we'd have to pay at least £5 Million for him.

So far things seem to suggest that PL is trying to spread his limited budget over with players or the 2-3 million bracket. I guess that's easier said than done, so maybe why we're hitting a brick wall in getting a striker and left back. Perhaps.

But yeah those players of 5 mill+ seem to be above our budget at the moment, or at least would result in us having to give up on signing another player in another position if we spend bigger on a player.

A lot of deals are a game of chicken with clubs and agents and only seem to be done at the end of the window.
I dare say we're involved with a few of them.

There’s probably some truth in that.  My guess is that this season will see us signing 5 or 6 players in the 2-3m bracket in order to fill out the squad, then next year there will be less signings but of higher value.

Not another one... We've managed to spend about another £10 mill without selling any of the dross. 3 out 4 in.  Everton have dumped 12 players bringing 2 in spending £4.5mill, I bet they still finish top half.  Fulham 8 out 4 in (1 loan) spending about £1.5mill.  Man City have got rid of 7 and brought no-one in yet... Newcastle 8 out 2 in. Norwich 7 out 4 in. Stoke 10 out 3 in....

There's a lot of squad trimming going on.  Until we get rid of some of the crap we can't just keep spunking money on wages.  Get over it.

Most of the youth players are better than Hutton and Warnock. Although too soon if push comes to shove we could use them.

Someone in the forthcoming H&V has a great phrase "Everton's magic sofa they keep finding £10 million down the back of to buy another useless forward."

I couldn't agree more. In fact I've heard from a reliable source that Peter Pannu and the Venky's recently visited Carson Yeung and are planning a swoop of the club. Lerner needs to take advantage. If they offer him a freshly printed million dollar bill, free fried chicken for life and haircuts for his kids he should sell up and move on.
