I wouldn't mind Jones as 2nd/3rd choice. He's quite good on the deck and has a turn of pace for someone his size. I actually think Stokes one dimensional style doesn't make the most of all his facets. He is very inconsistent mind you, but perhaps Lambert could get the best out of him. He's certainly got more in his locker than Heskey, but perhaps doesn't put in as much work as Emile.

Him and Bent were really good together the season they played. I do remember Bent had good things to say about playing up top with Kenwyne.

The Jones story seems to be no more than the Gospel According to Twitter.

Old Jose has said Kaka can go for the right price.... yeah, no chance, but still.

If Jones for hutton and a few quid allowed us to go for milner or Johnson is would be happy enough.

I'd offer no more than £5m cash, or £6m if we can throw in Hutton as well.

Presumably you'd pay 2-3m for Jones or 6-7m if they're taking Hutton off our hands...

Stoke fans are saying that Kenywne Jones is having a medical monday and they are signing Owen as his replacement

This rumour has been on Twitter for about 3 weeks, always 'imminent'

As an alternative - I do think we need a big man as an option at least - I could think of worse signings. But hardly one to get us salivating, and would suggest there will be no marquee signing this summer (I don't think there will be btw)

I can't quote at work but I thought Holman got in good positions at Forest and scored at Burton and peterborough, I'd be surprised if he didn't start next season

I imagined that Lambert would chop and change teams and formations. But we've kept the same shape in most pre-season games (a form of 4-2-2-2) so it does look like that's how we'll play.

It looked like CNZ, Ireland and Holman were competing for those attacking midfield roles. But with Gabby out, I expect CNZ to start up front meaning Holman and Ireland are the obvious choices, barring any new attacking signings in the next week.

Why not leave Jones where he is and sign Owen instead? We can then look forward to about 8 appearances in two years.

There's a lot of happy Stoke fans in my office at the moment who view getting rid of Jones the same way we viewed getting rid of Heskey. I'm really not that keen at all, handful on his day but his day was one Saturday in 2009.

Im suprised they don't want to get rid of their whole team then.  Horrible crap team.

I feel like I'm in the minority here but I would quite like Kenwyne in the squad. He pairs up incredibly well with Darren and in a possession oriented offense we could definitely use his size and heading ability. Sure he looks like a deer on ice sometimes but I think he would work hard for Lambert. He's only 27 and it's an opportunity to get rid of Hutton. Seems like a win win for me. Still need some fresh faces, no matter who they are.. and I think Jones has the ability to cause problems for any defense.

He didn't pair up very well with Bent at Sunderland.

I see Lukaku's agent has said he is close to joining a Premier League club and has ruled out Fulham. Based on nothing more than a gut feeling, I think it may well be us.
