Vlad, Simpson and Bennett. With Dunne, Clark, Lichaj, Lowton and Stevens competing. Sell Warnock, Collins and Hutton. Job done.

Berbatov represents everything our foward line lacks. I know nothing about his desire for "one last pay day" so I'm not going to speculate on it. But he's exactly the type of player we need.

If we could find a younger version, great. That would be ideal. But if he is available relatively cheaply I say get in there and ask the question.

I couldnt agree more - in fact I said so about 200 pages ago.  He has some guile and invention about him which someone like Carroll absolutely lacks. I'm sorry but I fear if we sign Carroll we are signing another Ivanhoe.

The fact Stan is here and is a club legend might help swing things. A 3 year deal, even at better than Bent money, could still transform the team. Him just behind Bent with Ireland, N'Zog and Gabby on the wings would be an excellent attacking set up.

That'll do me. I quite like Simpson. He's a decent player. I'm surprised Newcastle are selling, but they seem to have their sights on a new right back. A Utd supporting mate of mine rates him too. He reckons he should have got a crack there and rates him over Rafael. Then again I'm no fan of Rafael either.
There's obviously some disagreement re contract talks because otherwise I don't see why the Toon would sell their near ever present right back who had a very good season. Sounds to me like someone will get a bargain with him. Hopefully us.

Simpson is cack. One of my old flatmates is a massive Newcastle fan and I've seen loads of them over the past couple of years. Weak link by far last season.

From the Mirror

"Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill wants to return to former club Aston Villa to sign James Collins. Villa are prepared to sell the Welshman, 28, as they close in on a deal for Feyenoord's Netherlands international Ron Vlaar, 27."

Is nobody worried that Emile hasn't found a club yet? I hope the gentle giant gets sorted lest we be tempted to do a Guzan with him.

Out of the two, I would prefer Dunne to leave rather than Collins, but can't say I'm too disappointed.  Wonder if MON has learnt his lesson about paying over the odds?

Joe Bennett, young LB from M'boro rumoured to be in talks. Via Twitter.
This would be a good signing for a relatively low fee i'd imagine. I watched Boro four times last season (If you think we were dull then you should've saw them) and he was by far and away there stand out player, very attacking left back.

my boro season ticket mate reckons Bennet is ok , improved a little last year but Robson is the best player by far , followed by Williams.
