The ones saying he has no pace and can't defend are in the vast minority though and most likely talking bollocks.
Obviously our management have seen something special in this kid so we should probably just wait and see if they're right. Again, feel free to remain unexcited. I dont think you're meant to be wowed by this one but we could look back on it and think on its importance.

By all accounts he is a utility player most comfortable at RB.  Maybe Lambert, or his scouts, see a qulaity player in the making, but also one that can provide good cover for a number of roles...  Has anyone seen anything of him or are we taking the word of some disappointed Sheff fans?  When some of our players have left this site has been littered with 'well he was pants anyway/can't believe they've paid that much for him' type comments too.

Oh and genuine quotes from the Ivan Ramis guy about wanting a move to the Prem:

""This could be the ideal moment to make a change and the Premier League is a destination that appeals because I like the football there.

"I cannot say that things are bad here because I'm very happy, but it's possibly a step that I have to take to continue growing as a player.

"I want to have more challenges, more dreams, and to play in the English league would be an important step for me. I'd prefer things to be sorted out as soon as possible with regards to whether I'm staying or going."

So that's either trying to squeeze some extra Euros for his next contract or a "come and get me".

Quite recently MON said he sold Cahill, because, "Well actually he cant defend".

From The Independent:

Aston Villa and Sunderland 'target' Ivan Ramis keen on Premier League move

Real Mallorca defender Ivan Ramis has set his sights on a move to the Premier League.

The 27-year-old centre-back, who came up through the youth ranks at local club Mallorca, has been linked with Aston Villa and Sunderland in the media and Ramis admits he is keen on a switch to England.

He was quoted as saying by AS: "This could be the ideal moment to make a change and the Premier League is a destination that appeals because I like the football there.

"I cannot say that things are bad here because I'm very happy, but it's possibly a step that I have to take to continue growing as a player.

Have to say with some of the comments on here, i am completely underwhelmed by this signing. If he has no pace, then there is no chance of him being a success in the Prem.
It has'nt stopped Barry having a good career in the prem.

According to Jack Grealish on Twitter, he's signed a 3-year contract today so there's certainly a lot going on.

We're certainly not wasting anytime this summer, are we?

For all of those thinking we had got the new MON, think again. One thing Lambert has been stressing is how important it is to get players in early and have them part of the set up quickly. It wouldn't shock me to see at least one more face added next week before they head to Burton and then off to the US.

But they both wear glasses and have been employed by Celtic.

It is good to see new signing, it make me wonder who will be PL's blockbuster superstar signing. Let hope there is a young new Luc Nilis out there waiting to join Aston Villa to play with Bent.

Sheffield United fans claim he is somewhere between Walker and Naughton in ability.

Yes, Roy Walker

I think we should reserve judgement on that until we see him play. Then we can say what we see.

Keep on pressin' and guessin'
