I think Luc Nilis was a brilliant signing at the time.  That goal against Chelsea showed his class but the way he moved in that match, finding space etc. would have been great for the younger players at the time to have worked alongside.

All dashed that afternoon at Portman Road.

He was our Bergkamp.
Didn't we nearly sign him too?
He was probably my all time favorite non Villa player.

Luc Nilis was a brilliant player and his injury was so cruel. He was a world class finisher, who was genuinely a two footed player. We were robbed when he got injured. He was the last true marquee signing.

There's an announcement on a signing this afternoon according to Tim Abraham (E&S).

Mathew Lowton, apparently. Never heard of him.
Not very exciting these signings. We seem to be doing things on the cheap these days.

Re: Lowton. Versatile right back who can play across the back or in midfield. Sheffield United fans claim he is somewhere between Walker and Naughton in ability.

I admire your optimism and I hope you're right, but I've not been impressed with the players we've been linked with so far. Nothing too exciting so far.

Lambert has a great record of picking up players from lower leagues and seeing them produce. Main thing either way, is that this would be our 3rd signing and it's 6 days into Transfer Window.

If he is somewhere between Walker and Naughton in ability, then I'll be mnore than happy!

Is he our new Delaney?

I'm guessing it's the return of the Brad

Scored 6 goals last year and 4 the year before that....not bad for a right back.

It might turn out to be a double signing - Lowton AND Guzan?
