I don't think much of Lichaj at left back. Right back he's fine though.

Naughton is a good player, quick, good in the tackle and not bad going forward. Would certainly be on my list of wants.

Players like him, Moses, Frimpong, Phillips, Rhodes, the lad at Barnsley that got injured but looked a real talent I have forgotten the name of...., Ince, Clyne are the ones I would love to see us go for. Youth, but have a lot of games under their belt, and have clearly got a lot of quality and will likely only go up in value, so will be assets for the club.

Would agree with that, but we still need a few experienced heads to help the younger players out.  With Stan's unfortunate situation, we have lost that experienced figure in central midfield, so I'd still be looking at bringing a seasoned campaigner in to play in there.

That is fair. Add in a free Reo Coker. Leader, knows the club and would certainly be useful with the younger players.

Danny Murphy could do a job for us for 12 months while we see how the situation with Stan pans out.

With the best will in the world I cannot see Stan playing at the top level again, I just want to see him back to health and hope the club continues to support him when he has.  We need to be looking for a long term replacement, ideally lambert will see the value in Makoun which would give us more options in rebuilding our, frankly, embarrasing defence.

I don't get the lichaj love in. Did well at the back end of last year in some games, in a battling away kind of way. But I'm really not convinced by him to be honest.

I was quite impressed with Lichaj, would rather he played at RB than Hutton.

That's a pretty low bar! I agree left back and dcm the priorities, as well as another creative / wide player

I don't want NRC back personally, I think we should be aiming for higher, someone who can pass would be nice

NRC is a step backwards. Danny Murphy and Makoun would be a good creative MF. And could feed Bent and wingers along with there own efforts .....

I always liked NRC and wouldn't be dead set against it.  But only if we had exhausted our options to get a better DCM and/or needed to do things on the cheap.

I know it's bullshit and conjecture, but I wouldn't mind having NRC back, played quiet well under MON when he was given a chance. I would rather have him with us than go into the season with no one to replace Stan.

I'm really hoping Makoun gets a chance of a run of games and then we can make a proper judgement on him.

And me, I think theres a good player in there somwhere and was dissapointed McLeish sent him packing. He'll be like a new signing all over again
Hoping Clark and Bannan get a good chance this season. There the two ones who stand out for me

I never really saw much of NRC's much vaunted "leadership qualities".

I know he arranged the occasional pre match huddle, and did a lot of pointing, but that doesn't really make you a leader.

His skill also extends to sticking a foot in in midfield and being awkward, which whilst sometimes useful, isn't really enough if that's all you do.

I'm more hopeful than expectant over Makoun - let's not forget that the Houllier/McAllister team that singed also didn't play him much either.  And has he really pulled up any trees in Greece?

However, lets get him back for pre-season and then Bertie can make the decision.

I always got the impression that his Villa managers didn't really know what to do with NRC. Maybe because he was not much cop, maybe because they were.

Wouldn't be distraught if Lambert rates him and gets him in.
