I'd rather have Footballers that are good with the ball. Nigel Reo-Coker is better when he doesn't have the ball. Therefore I wouldn't touch him with a barge-pole. I think he's a trouble maker too.

Linked with Chris Gunter - £2.5mil from Forest. Daily Star though...

If Diame is going on a free and supposedly in talks with West Ham, i'd be most upset if we ended up with NRC.

I don't want NRC back personally, I think we should be aiming for higher, someone who can pass would be nice
my view!

I didn't want NRC to go given the exodus of other players. But I thought chris herd offered as much if not more, at least in his better games

Plus, I imagine he's on his way to Juventus.

Keen to give Makoun a chance, the same with Gardner and bannan. But don't want to go into the season relying on any of them to hold our midfield together. Still not at all sure who I would want in there though. This Anita guy sounds promising, tho I can't say I've seen him play. I heard good things about Strootman and elm
, but can't say either has done much in the euros.

Strootman hasn't played a single minute.

How much would you expect him to do?

James Collins wanted by Wet Spam circa £3m apparently.

Oh, and Danny Murphy is 35! Jeez, we can do better than him and NRC I'm sure!

We bought Collins for £5m and he's still relatively young.  Even with a year left, we should be looking for more than £3m for him.

I am a fan of NRC. I know others are not, and I completely understand where they come from, but he is so useful if deployed correctly, and it is a position where we are weak. Makoun is a good player, but not a tackler, Herd has done well, but very raw still. I think sitting NRC in there playing a very simple role, just breaking up play and protecting the back 4 is very good value on a free which he reportedly is. I would much rather spend the money we have on players that can create, and get us off our seats than a destructive centre mid with experience, who we also need. I see it that we have a finite amount of cash and have to make it stretch, and part of that is identifying areas we can strengthen without spending too much. Holman is a start, for me NRC would be another good step. Selling Collins for 3 million and having Cuellar back is another for me. Selling Hutton and signing Naughton makes sense, likewise selling Warnock an signing Clyne. Just fresher, more hungry players.

Agree with all that, except still not convinced on Cuellar, much as I agree with all the 'nice bloke etc' stuff.

similar feelings on Cuellar Percy, but again it is a financial one. He is as good as Collins, and Dunne and Clark would be my starting pair anyway next season.

Just imagine if we signed Johnson and Phillips out wide, do you know if Lambert knows how to use wingers in their proper positions, none of this namby pamby opposite side rubbish? (wink emotions are definitely needed..._)

There is not a chance in hell of Strootman joining us.

Johnson is great on the wrong side cutting in. It is a simple choice between genuine width or greater goal threat. Neither is right or wrong really.
