Holt reminds me off Harewood - good PL debut season that will prove to be the best in his career.

I don't think it's right to immediately assume Lambert would sign him if we appointed him.

No, true, but that's the (admittedly lazy and probably bullshit) rumour.

I think it's a good example of the difference between the two options. Lambert would bring Grant Holt, an ageing, old-fashioned, technically limited (though definitely intelligent of movement), must-play-in-a-front-two target man; Solskjær would take a risk on a young, technically gifted, pass-and-move, between-the-lines midfielder (who might bring the girls in to Villa Park like Laursen did). I know where my preference lies.

Exactly.

Exactly x 2 for me!

x3.

Big Grant is gonna bang 'em in for us.

Given the lack of agreement/ certainty/ clarity, shall we look at this in terms of pure club shop merchandising potential?

Viking horny helmets and Norwegian flags in claret and blue sound more fun than the turkey and tractor-based goods that Norfolk promises.

Whilst on ancillary benefits, the Holte End could adapt the song 'Baby Face' with OGS lyrics.

Yanks are good at franchise, license and merchandise stuff.Randy must hear me.

If, as I expect, OGS becomes manager next week.
The first player he will sign will be Magnus Wolff Ekrem.

To be honest I'm not sure how willing Molde will be to do business with us if we take their manager.

If they've had their financial support pulled, they might have to do business.

Their running costs are estimated at £9m, right? A £3m offer for one player increases their revenue enormously.

Basically the equivalent of Heskey's wages for one year then.

IMO I don't think Lambert would bring Holt here. To me Grant Holt is just an example of why he is a good manager. He has taken a also ran centre forward of the lower leagues and given him the belief he can play in the PL. I think Lambert is more intelligent than some are giving him credit for on here. I suspect he knows Holt's limitations and would be looking at far better options if he is appointed our manager.

FFS are you really saying that an insignificant Norwegian club would not bow down and grovel at the feet of a founding member of the Football League and a top Premiership club, which has won the European Cup?

Brummies have always underrated their place in the world. Be confident....e.g. Mancunians never made world-leading cars nor jewellery and they are very cocky indeed.

As an aside, is that Norway's current away kit? It's enjoyably 80's.

It is waste of time speculating who is joining Villa as we have to appoint OGS first then we probably see Wolf as new signing first and appoint two coach. OGS would have lot of different ideas and probably have a list of wonderful vikings and young Manchester United players to go for among others targets caught his eye while coaching Man utd Reserves or his Norwegian team.

Great!! So we are going to have a team of Man Utd's reserves and players plying their trade in a worse league than the Scottish Premier.  Before we all proclaim Norway to be the some kind of footballing hotbed, let's remember that their national team has not qualified for a major tournament since 1998.
