What have you heard Fletch?
A lot of the backroom staff have lobbied to keep him, they love the bloke and enjoy working for him.
Very significant.

I wouldn't say so, it's pretty obvious that people having an easy ride will support their boss. If they're happy given our current position then they aren't the right people for the club. We shouldn't be looking at whether the backroom staff are happy, we should be evaluating his position on the performance of the team which has been atrocious. Therefore he should go.

I enjoyed working for one of my old bosses. Great bloke, looked after his staff very well, but he was not producing where it mattered and he was out on his arse within twelve months.

The backroom staff enjoying working for someone whose has broken records in all the wrong ways these season doesn't exactly inspire me.If they are happy to work with failure then they can go with him to what ever club is dumb enought to employ him after us...I somehow suspect only Steve Kean will find it harder to get work than him !!

Are these the backroom staff that he has brought in? or the ones that look at the facts:

- 2 relegations from four seasons (and dicing with it this season).
- His three outfield-player purchases (including Jenas) have failed to ignite the team, particularly N’Zogbia of whom many had high hopes.
- Highest number of draws in the division: 33% more than the next team (Sunderland).
 - Lowest number of goals-scored in the bottom 6 clubs (and only surpassed by Stoke in the whole division).
- Worst record in the league for losing from winning positions – 22 points lost.
- Villa's worst-ever league home record.
- Worst defensive record from set pieces.
- Could well be the first team not to score from a corner all season.
- A numbing style of football.
- VP crowds down by 9% this season.

Anyone with an active brain cell inside them would say that these facts make McLeish a hopeless case. It brings a tear to my eye even typing them out. Holy Jeeeesus: who do the board-members think they are?!!

Presuming these links are true in the first place, does that mean that they're recent ones or are the rags just digging up old stories to fill some column inches?

There were stories of all AM's summer transfer targets being put on hold a few weeks ago, so even if these are the players he WAS lining up, I don't take the stories coming out now as any sign that he's staying.

It especially makes sense if you're changing your manager or at least thinking about it!

Well yes let's hope it's the former.

It's not going to save him.

Or some of them.

Of course some of the backroom staff want Villa to keep him - he's brought people across with him. If he goes, they'll probably go too.

Nice guy, gets on well with the staff (some of which he hired), co-operative with his bosses... not reasons for him to keep his job as Villa manager, IMO.

The worrying thing is that it's probably enough for Lerner.

Yes. Doesn't rock the boat, doesn't ask any questions, is pleasant enough around the place. No player unrest - they like him enough not to play up, but not enough to play for him (which is the crucial bit).

I have a feeling McLeish will be here come the start of the season, I really do.
