The proposed N'Zzogbia Giroud swap, with Hoilett then coming in on  a free, would be an truely excellent bit of summer dealing.
Hoilett wouldn't be free.

OUT:  Nzogbia, Ireland, Bent for something like 35m

Yep.  The key to progress is to sell your best three players I always say.

In fairness, I think the sale of N'Zogbia and Ireland would be due to them wanting to get out of the club themselves. If a player wants to leave or is causing disruption, and if you believe what the papers say the pair of them are, it's probably for the best to sell them on.

Should definitely try and hold onto Darren though, even if he is eating up the wage budget.

Whispers that Swansea haven't discussed a permanent offer for Sigurdsson yet; Hoffenheim willing to sell him. He's a lovely footballer, ball-playing midfielder. Wouldn't be free, but probably only £3-4m.

Would definitely go for Sigurdsson, I rated him when he was at Reading and was surprised a top prem club did not go for him and £3-4m would not be too bad a price.

I wouldn’t mind seeing Ashley Williams come in from Swansea, he looks like a decent defender.

If you think we would get him for £4m you are living on planet Zog. I would go for him, in fact I would make him a priority. He is Ireland, but hungry and sane! I reckon he would go for somewhere around the £10m mark and I would be more than willing to see us pay it.

Clyne at Palace - a player we might have had an interest in I guess - off to Man U according to this:

If we sell those three we may as well jack it in. 3 of our potentially best players, we cannot afford to keep selling our top players. This wage bill stuff has got to stop, Beye and Heskey will be off it in the summer. Unless the aim is to get a combined wage bill of about £1000 a month, the wage cutting should stop there it's been going long enough.

Beye's already gone. Hopefully Heskey will be moved on in the summer. I think the only other big-ish contract up in the summer is Carlos - and I'd rather keep him and sell Duinne.

Yes Beye is gone but that was £45,000 off the wage bill, plus Heskey's £65,000 then surely the wage cutting has to stop at some point.

Jenas has signed a 1yr extension to his contract so we'll not be signing him  8)

they can afford to , since we paid his wages this season.

That's an educated guess, based on the fact that Hoffenheim bought Sigurdsson for £4m and he's now surplus to requirements. I doubt they can command much more than that for a player they have declared they want to sell. But we'll see.

I don't think we should go near any of Swansea's players, maybe Britton aside. It's the system which makes them, and removing them from that would probably see a decline in their level of performance.

Although I'll counter that patronising shit by saying I'd replace their entire squad with ours in a heartbeat. It's an admirable setup they have down there.

Good point , its the manager we need.

Nzog has been having a little moan of late but not sure what Ireland has done wrong. McLeish said hes been working hard in training.

Its never going to be £10m, Hoffenheim have said that they are willing to sell him as he has not settled since his move from Reading. I think Reading sold him for about £7m so I don’t think we would have to pay more than that to get him, £5m with add ons should be about right.
