We're going to be linked to every freebie going, however shite. You're going to have to get used to that I'm affraid.

Shame we’re not being linked with Michael Ballack seems his on a free. That’s the sort of free transfers I wouldn’t mind not De Laet and Guthrie but I suppose beggars can’t be choosers.

Are Rodallega and Figueroa both available on free’s at the end of the season, two decent players I wouldn’t mind seeing come in.

Ballack is exactly the sort of free we should not be going for. Outrageous wages for a player that has nothing left to achieve in the game. No thank you!

Ballack wouldn't really survive in this league now. I'd rather not.

Rodallega and Figueroa are both bosmans, yes. As is Diame. Wigan might be in a bit of shit next season if they dont get relegated this season.
I'm not sure about the Wigan players but we should make Hoillett a priority.

And 35 and with the wages he'd want, Michael Ballack is the exact sort of Bosman I would NOT want to be linked with.

De Laet and Guthrie aren't either, but a few more in the Holman category would go down OK!

Yeah I know Ballack would be to old and his wages are massive, I was just using him as an example really. I’d prefer to see us going for players of a better class that De laet and Guthrie.

I would love to see Hoillett come to us, I think he is going to be a top player but I can see some of the bigger clubs going for him. It would be nice if we at least made an effort to sign him though.

The proposed N'Zzogbia Giroud swap, with Hoilett then coming in on  a free, would be an truely excellent bit of summer dealing.

I really can't see us getting Hoilett, he'll be going to somebody bigger than us.

Matt Phillips at Blackpool would be realistic, great player.

I'd also like us to start eyeing some of Swansea's lot.

Whispers that Swansea haven't discussed a permanent offer for Sigurdsson yet; Hoffenheim willing to sell him. He's a lovely footballer, ball-playing midfielder. Wouldn't be free, but probably only £3-4m.

I don't think we should go near any of Swansea's players, maybe Britton aside. It's the system which makes them, and removing them from that would probably see a decline in their level of performance.

Although I'll counter that patronising shit by saying I'd replace their entire squad with ours in a heartbeat. It's an admirable setup they have down there.

Would definitely go for Sigurdsson, I rated him when he was at Reading and was surprised a top prem club did not go for him and £3-4m would not be too bad a price.

I wouldn’t mind seeing Ashley Williams come in from Swansea, he looks like a decent defender.

I'd be well happy with Sigurdsson, he's always looked a decent player.  Wonder why Hoffenheim are so keen to get shot of him?  Must admit I don't see much of the Bundesliga these days as I've cancelled ESPN.

Whatever happens, it will be a refreshing change to at least have some overseas players.
Under Pubehead, it was as if we were sponsered by UKIP.

Some of the rumours and suggestions above are cause for optimism and that crucial word hope.
OUT:  Nzogbia, Ireland, Bent for something like 35m
IN: Giroud, Hollman, Hoillet, Sigurdsson for something like 20m

-------------Herd----Petrov-------------
---Hollman---Sigurdsson----Hoillet---
-----------------Giroud--------------------

I reckon the wages removed would more than cover the suggested players' pay and an overall surplus in transfer fees.  A younger team and some difficult characters removed from the squad should make McLeish's job easier too.

It'll never happen but it's nice to dream.

I don't know enough about the player to comment. But my gut tells me N'Zogbia won't work out for villa so maybe it's a good deal if Giroud is as good as people seem to think.
