Was it just me or did it seem like Dennis Mortimer didn't like Gary Williams? He was asked for a one word description to describe each of his thirteen title winning team mates and quick as a flash he came up with a positive one word answer for each one except Williams when his answer was 'pass'.

Perhaps he was talking about his pass in the build up to the goal 🤷‍♂️

In the title winning season Gary Williams shared the number three shirt with Gibson and Deacy but I think that during the course of the season he played right back, left back and centre half. He made a mistake by leaving for Leeds when we were relegated in 1987 because we bounced straight back up under SGT and he never kicked a ball in the top flight again.

He turned up at The Holte Pub a few years back with a few of the 1982 team after a home game. He was quite a nice chap.

He was on good form that day. And I seem to remember him being the same in the Lions Lounge pre-match as well a year or two before.

Out of the title winning fourteen I have met Ken McNaught, Sid, Tony Morley and Gary Shaw. If we are including the European Cup team I have also met Nigel Spink at his testimonial forum back in the late eighties. I had Tony Morley's phone number on one of my old mobile phones for a while after I made a successful charity bid for his Villa old boys shirt. I also have a number ten raffle ticket signed by Sid when I met him at a Halloween party at the Aston Social a number of years back.

i think its only Sid Cowans that i have met in person out of the 14, and a few times

which reminds me of a mate of mine i used to play Cricket with,
he was a West Ham fan and his absolute hero was Bobby Moore
he saw him walking along in one of those underpasses they have in London many many years ago and went over to him
Bobby just told him to 'Fuck off'

he was devastated still hasn't got over it to this day

My ex fiance's younger brother was a youngster at Swindon and I went to one of their end of season awards around 1996. Steve McMahon was player manager of Swindon at the time. I had a photo taken with him and told him I was quite a fan of his when he was with Villa. I got the impression he had absolutely no intention of talking about his time at Villa. In fact I don't think he wanted to chat to me full stop. He was a right miserable git.
