1965/66?  HT Spurs 5 Villa 0
                FT Spurs 5 Villa 5

Not sure if the HT score was correct but the full time score was.
I think Spurs went 4-0 up, we got 1 back then they went to 5-1 from which we pulled it back to 5-5, then Alan Deakin missed a sitter to win it? Scorers Hateley (4) Deakin (1)??

Your recollections re correct Bernie, 5-5 from 5-1 down, Hately(4) and Deakin the scores.

Alan Deakin missed more than a sitter. He chose to roll the ball into an empty net and then immediately turned to celebrate, thus enabling  Spurs defender to get back and clear before it crossed the line.
Here it is.

Ive been trying to get a copy of this match for years.Anyone know if it was on Match of the day. The usual sites dont have it in their collections. Greavsie has a good description of it in his autobiography.

1996.league.cup.semi.2-0down.to.Arsenal.yorkie.scores.twice. ;D

I've been trying to find old footage of that.

Skip to 54 minutes and 26 seconds...

Thanks for that!

Always been annoyed at the (sarcastically) totally unbiased Brian Moore commentary "They've scored"

2 nil down at home to Stromsgodset.. Gary Charles pulled one back with about 10 minutes to go, then Vassell got two in Injury Time. How I remember that I don't know.

Oh yes I remember that! I remember in the highlights, there were American style cheerleaders at that game.

Poor bugger

Remember it well unfortunately, it was awful.

I wonder what extent of the injuries were from the original collision with the stand as he hit that very hard?

albeit played over 2 legs, with a pens required - the win over Inter Milan in 1993 ranks as one of the best nights watching Villa in my lifetime.

Arsenal has either been the scene of drubbings or memorable victories for the Villa.  Villa won at Highbury 5-4 in March '62, and my recollection of this is Arsenal were 4-2 up before the Villa made a late comeback.  However, it is 50 years ago so my memory could be playing tricks.

I remember the morning after a red scouse supporting friend of mine trying to gyp me about that match. I had to politely point out that we won.
