Sadly Hutton didn't sharpen his studs that day and launch a few maniacal tackles.
His last ditch tackle on Bellamy was top drawer. That would have made Downing fill his pants. Bellamy didn't complain and that says a lot for him. Just the man we want.

In his post match interview, Downing looked and spoke like the snake he is. Never to be forgiven.
Absolutely.
No eye contact, said he gave his best when he was here, which he probably thinks is true.
And so do I - he was pretty good at times but not often enough. His words about sticking with us were totally hollow but he just doesn't see it.
He's a gutless twat. Glad to see the back of him when he went. The 20 mill was a bonus.
Could we please spend it on a decent CM player/compensation for Ginger "what the players do on the field is nothing to do with me" McLeish?

In the case of Barry, Young and Milner, they had all given us good service. Even delaying their exits.

Milner didn't.  He was off first chance he got.
Milner never kicked and stamped his feet when we were holding out for a price, he carried on playing (albeit one game), scored for us and celebrated with us. He waved goodbye to the Holte End in a dignified manner. He didnt celebrate a good goal against us even though he was nowhere near our fans
Barry did an interview slagging off the manager at the time and questioning our ambitions when at a team we looked like we could compete with the team he wanted to join. He then joined a team not even in europe

Rather than wishing injury on the cowardly little weasel I hope he stays injury free for the rest of his career and succeeds in doing nothing of note with the best supporters in the world at the giants of the game turning against him and abusing him even more than we did. I hope he disappears into lower league obscurity.

Yep.  Splinters in his arse.  That's a good injury for him.

He'd probably talked about how much he loved fighting for the allies before switching sides when he landed.

Why won't somebody just break the fucking c*** in two?

That may happen in the return fixture when he is all cocky and supposedly safe in his new home ground.

No problem with Downing, apart from he has no chin and is a bit of a wuss.  He was a good but not brilliant player who was and is replaceable, and we got more for him than he is worth.  If we'd spent the money received, and spent it wisely we could have got two as good as him.  It's not his fault we only spent a fraction of what we got for him and Young, and then wasted most of what we did spend on the likes of Hutton and N'zogbia.  Although I admit I thought the latter was a decent signing at the time, but he simply hasn't delivered.
